What? The SPLC? The ACLU? MeCHA? Indymedia? La Raza?
Tell 'em hello for us, "Tex".
The following begins about 3/4 of the way through the report, after Simcox told the reporter that he had received donations from over 130,000 people, and he "ballparked" the total at $250,000, which would be $1.92 per donor. LOL The reporter brought him back to reality:
Local Reporter:
We're talking probably a million(s) of dollars here, and you don't have an accountability of that money?
Simcox:
Yeah.
Local Reporter:
You don't even know how much you guys are bringing in...
Simcox:
Yeah.
Local Reporter:
Because the Minutemen Civil Defense Corp is not set up as a not for profit tax exempt organization, there's really no way for you to track the donations, and how that money is being spent. That is, unless Chris Simcox wants to open his books.
Local Reporter:
Why can't we set up a time, you know, a week from now, and you can show us your books, you can be transparent, with the whole nation who has been watching you for the last year."
Simcox:
No, we don't, we don't... bend to those requests and accusations about anything.
The reporter ends with something very important... Although Simcox told her his org. had filed with the IRS over a year earlier, the IRS could not, at the time of the report on April 27, 2006, confirm any papers were filed.
If nothing else, at least this exposure made them get their ducks in a row.
Regarding the funds collected as contributions to the fence project: All donations which have been received have been recorded, processed, and banked by a highly reputable and responsible caging company which specializes in non-profit accountability.
The separate Fence Donation link is something I discovered very recently. How long has that been active? Is it new, like, say, since this whole shebang blew up? It is interesting that the 'fence project' is being handled responsibly. What about the general donations, in the high six-figures, that came in before the IRS had approved your org?
Do you know a Cliff May? He says he was on the Gilchrist campaign as an assistant of yours.
