Who Has Seen/Will See "Dead Man's Chest" Today?
Posted on 07/07/2006 11:06:15 AM PDT by AnnaZ
My younger son has been marking off the days -- 45 of 'em -- 'til today. There were 4 midnight shows he begged for (12:01, 12:02, 12:03, 12:04), but since he just turned six, I had to turn him down. We'll be going at 4.
He received just about every Jack Sparrow marketing device for his birthday on the 4th, and will be wearing the outfit to the show (LOL). He's been eating the cereal and M&M's for weeks.
I'm actually looking forward to it, as I love Johnny Depp.

They're gonna need subtitles for Daddy Sparrow.

I'm glad to hear that. I'm being semi-dragged to see it tomorrow. Not my typical kind of movie, but a friend really wants to see it.

Latest interview in Rolling Stone by Depp explains his move to Europe. (He lives half the time in the U.S. and half the time in France.) According to his interview it has nothing to do with politics, but more about where his wife wanted to live.
He goes on to say that all of the political stuff was not his doing.
Am looking forward to the movie.
To: Northern Yankee
His wife is French. (Vanessa Paradis)

Yep... his wife is French, indeed.
My daughter is on her way to France in January for part of a semester abroad... she has a double major in English and French.
She loves the culture, but not the politics.
Did you like the second movie?
I may go see it today with the younguns.
To: AnnaZ
Oh. You might hate it then. (LOL) Well, I guess we'll see won't we. It's not that I dislike girly movies, but I don't usually choose to go see them.
To: Kaylee Frye
It's not girlie. Not overly, at any rate. Lots of gross. LOL.

Johnny Depp? America's "sexiest" traitor? Forget him and his stupid movie.
While I hardly consider myself a Johnny Depp fan, please share with me what he has done that merits your accusation of treason.

I wager this sequel will be a dud.
Well, at least for opening day it's number one, of all time!

Well, I guess dud was a bad choice of words. I never doubted it would make truck loads of money. I am just prepared to be disappointed though your report has me hoping it won't be a complete waste of my time.
Going tomorrow...
Thanks for the updates.

No. Not completely.

Saw it with my three daughters--13, 11, 9--who also absolutely loved it.
PRRetty much everyone in the theater seemed to love it too. There were lots of laughs and cheers and other positive reactions. The movie even received applause.
I continuely asked my 9-year-old f it was too much, but she didn't have any problems with any of it.
To: AnnaZ
My boys already want to see it again.Well tie me up, and let me walk the plank!
We didn't see it today... spent most of the time at the hospital... maybe tomorrow.
What I wouldn't give though to be sailing around in a tall ship, out on the Great Lakes during this time of year.
To: Military family member
My 6-year-old, the pirate-obsessed child, covered his eyes a couple of times. But at the end he entertained the entire theater by swashbuckling at the front of the hall to the music over the credits. LOL. (He was dressed up as Jack Sparrow.)
The theater we were at was pumped as well throughout the pic... cheering and laughing along. It was a true-to-form opening day experience.

I don't know what would be more fun... watching Pirates, or your son as Captain Jack Sparrow.
On second thought... I think your son would be a riot!
To: Northern Yankee
How sweet of you to say so. Thank you. And he was a bit of a(n adorable) riot.
Saw your profile page, BTW... made me think of these lines of John Adams's (from a letter to Frances van der Kemp):Griefs upon griefs! Disappointments upon disappointments. What then? This is a gay, merry world notwithstanding."
