Nunez runs into the 'broadcast tent', past numerous talk stations and right to the 'only' Spanish speaking radio station in the tent. The Speaker sits and speaks with them 'in Spanish', then promptly gets up and walks out of the tent.

Over the previous two years of the event, we have seen more and more Democrat creep into the tent and visit with talk radio up and down the state. Actually, this year feature not one, but two liberal 'Air America' radio stations under the tent.

Today I (and a few other stations) were stood up by the Speaker at 8AM. He was scheduled to visit with me at eight, then shift to another station on 'radio row' near eight-thirty. He 'never' showed!

Without word, or staffer visiting to inform the broadcasters that the Speaker was being held up by a pressing issue inside of his office, or maybe the latest installment of World Cup Soccer was to intense to pull himself away to discuss the state's budget.

Then, as soon as I was off the air at 9AM...Nunez runs into the 'broadcast tent', past numerous talk stations and right to the 'only' Spanish speaking radio station in the tent. The Speaker sits and speaks with them 'in Spanish', then promptly gets up and walks out of the tent.

In the end, Fabian Nunez gave one interview - a Spanish speaking interview with the only Spanish speaking radio station in the tent.

The Speaker's not bi-lingual under a tent?

UPDATE: The Speaker's Communications Director, Steve Maviglio, has contacted me to file a complaint against this blog posting.

Maviglio states that Speaker Nunez was "never scheduled on my show", and that "he (Maviglio) called the Republican Caucus to cancel interviews for Friday"; (except for the Spanish speaking radio station and the local Los Angeles radio station, hmm.)

Maviglio also stated that the Speaker was "ill" for the morning, that he only had the stamina for the two interviews.

I've confirmed my schedule and some background on this issue, the Speaker 'was' confirmed for Friday's conversation! As my daughter(s) would say, "whatever". The 'real question' is...why did Speaker Fabian Nunez enter the tent and ONLY speak with a Spanish speaking radio station, and a station from Los Angeles?

Sorry to hear that the Speaker was feeling under the weather at 8AM, and yet I was encouraged to see him feeling much better at 8:45AM, as he walked ('sprinted') past my broadcast location to speak with the Spanish station.

I'm sorry that I 'assumed' that the Speaker wanted to 'only' speak with the Spanish radio station (in Spanish), and to his home LA radio station, where there is a large contingent of Hispanic voters. (Not to mention the fact that Fabian Nunez desires to be the next mayor of LA, in preparation for a future gubernatorial race himself.

Now, please allow me to remove my tongue which is firmly planted in my cheek.

Interesting, but it isn't surprising for California.

It's just a shame.

I read on Freepers today that your show is being cancelled.
I called the station and they said they knew nothing of this.
What on earth is going on?
