Ah, I think all the iterations of Trek were entertaining in their own way. The only one I couldn't watch was that dreck with Kate Mulgrew. BLEEEECH! Her 'tough broad' voice just turns my stomach. I think I got tired of her because of Cheers more than anything else, though.
That said, you're right that the first was probably the best, if only because it was truly groundbreaking. I hate recycling.
