John Kerry: Shameless, But the Real Shame Is If We Don't Act [Attacks Coulter!]
Huffington Post ^ | 6/8/2006 | John Forbes Kerry

Posted on 06/08/2006 10:16:41 AM PDT by johnny7

When I heard on cable television what Ann Coulter wrote and said about the widows of 9/11, my first reaction was pretty much unprintable. I have no apologies for it. Did this woman ever for a second stop and think that these womens' children might be watching TV and have to listen to her venomous words? So much for family values.

Kerry is pretending that Ann attacked all of the 9/11 widows instead of just the four "Jersey Girl" Democratic activists...he says some of them voted for Bush in 2004 and some for him. If he really meant the four that Ann was criticizing, that would be quite an admission that even in that small group of Bush-haters, some couldn't bring themselves to vote for Kerry for President.

"Hang yourself with that rope."

Oh, they'll find many more corpses to parade before it's over. After all, everyone knows that Leftist fanatics are really the ones who speak for the dead.

Hi, Txsleuth. It must have been another freeper who pointed out that these mothers left their kids to go on the campaign trail, because I wouldn't condemn that and although I am totally disgusted with the Jersey Girls, I think it was wrong of Ann to attack them the way she did.

In a book about the Godlessness of the left, she attacks widows in a shameful way in her book and I don't think that's appropriate or Christian.

I know that I'll be attacked by freepers who love Ann, and while I do think she's clever and witty, she crossed a line in her attack on the Jersey Girls, imo; let's not be like THEM. I was glad to see that Hugh Hewitt thought that Ann's comments were way over the line; he called them disgusting in fact.

Exactly which part of Ann's comments re these 4 widows did you find exceptionable ? The entire chapter, or just specific parts ?

I agree entirely with her premise, but unless she has some specific knowledge, saying that some of them might have been heading for divorce (ie were not devoted wives) was just unnecessary piling on.

Saying that the women were glad their husbands died and that they should pose for Playboy before they got too old. Also, she has no way of knowing if their husbands were about to divorce them.

These women have children. How do we think the kids feel hearing their probably made-up information that their fathers were going to divorce their mothers, or that their mothers were glad their fathers died?

100% inappropriate and her remarks are being condemned by every right thinking person including Laura Ingraham (or so I saw reported by another freeper) and Hugh Hewitt, who had it on his website yesterday that the remarks were disgusting.

Oh, gosh, I am SO sorry, Peach---

It was a different freeper, and I forgot until just now, when I read your post. I do remember you posting on a thread about this yesterday,...and I for some reason, your name stuck in my head.

PLEASE forgive me. I promise to check my "sources" more carefully next time. I always am so worried about not putting a freepers name at the top, when I reference them....but I did a worse thing today.

BTW..I agree with you about ANN, but, I also agreed with the "phantom" freeper that the Jersey Girls set themselves up for criticism...

Ann doesn't just critisize however, she slings arrows..and I pretty much have been angry with her every since she called for President Bush's impeachment.

What I find disappointing is that every single talk show has talked about this...and asked the audience if Ann went too far, when dissing the Jersey Girls..but, I don't remember ANY talk shows being concerned about her call for the impeachment of Bush..and was she going to far in THAT opinion.

Again, Peach, I am so sorry.

The argument that these women have children is entirely extraneous. Coulters beef is with the women, not the families, and her comments were directed to the wives. What the children think is entirely up to them. Saying the mothers cant be criticized because they have kids is a non sequiter.

OTOH I am uncomfortable with Coulters remarks at face value, but then I consider their symbolism. I view her comments as a way of making the brutal point that these women are attention whores to the detriment of their husbands memories. Have you seen Todd Beamers wife behaving as these women have done ? No., she didnt. Even in the press release saying they would not answer any more media questions on this issue they couldnt resist making more political statements.

If they wanted us to take them seriously, they would have pressed the 9-11 Commission to ask very uncomfortable questions of the Clinton administration, in particular a few of the members of the Commission itself.

If you don't mind getting in the gutter with the left, that's fine. I personally won't do it.

I just find it interesting (and this does not refer to you specifically) that those who decry Coulter's tactics have no problem employing those same tactics against Republicans. Do you like being called a bigot if you don't agree with the Marriage Amendment ? Or how about being called a racist if you think Americans should speak English as the country's primary language ?

While I can deplore the specific comments as being pure speculation and possibly unfounded in fact, I can still agree with the argument being made.

I think Coulter makes excellent points in all this.

AND

that the mothers et al deserve every shrill attack they get. They are not the only ones who can be pointed, forceful and loud. We have far more to be forceful, pointed and loud JUSTIFIABLY than they do.

I would like to see SKERRY confronted with SWIFT BOAT FACTS POSTERS AT EVERY PUBLIC APPEARANCE.

HE still deserves to be imprisoned for treason, at the very least, imho.

But, hey, we could offer a deal--3 for 1--Billdo, Shrillery, SKerry--all in leavenworth for the price of one? Shoot--put them in the same cell. They deserve each other.
