I see. So the fact the post was addressed to me does not mean you were including me in this "many"

You are, perhaps, confusing libertine-ism with conservatism.
If you ask me, there's a conscious movement going on whereby the word 'conservative' is being hijacked to mean 'libertarian'. And as anyone who is in any way familiar with libertarian thinking, they are often a half-step away from radical individualist libertinism. Such should never, ever be confused with conservatism.

And if an example like this had been given during the speech, it probably would have been better received. I haven't read the transcript, so I can't say if this was covered or not.

Has the whole speech been posted anywhere? How do you know he didn't?

Of course, the Church takes no responsibility for financially supporting those families who have too many bills.
That's an amusing criticism of the largest charitable organization in the history of humanity. Can you name a larger one?

>>>Maybe you're right. Jesus would have thundered at a bunch of college kids about the evils of contraception, especially since He never had a single word to say on the subject in His actual public life.<<<
"But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, Weep not for Me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. For behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck."

It was meant as it was written. If you're reading more into it than intended, that's on you.

If you ask me, there's a conscious movement going on whereby the word 'conservative' is being hijacked to mean 'libertarian'. Conscious or not, many seem to think this way.
Embracing an idea held by all Christian churches and governments until the mid 20th Century is hardly a novel introduction to "conservatism."

on the other hand....look at western societies, and see that our birth rate is below replacement, and to such a degree, that we are in danger of becoming racially extinct....women today are selfish and narcissistic....and men that covet their company are no better....remember: the tribe with the most babies wins, and feminism plus abortion equals genocide....

That is simply an awesome riposte.

Ummmm....so exactly WHO are these men going to have babies with if they aren't to covet the company of today's selfish and narcissistic women?

Are you positing that the Church's position on birth control doesn't reflect the teachings of Christ on the subject?Christ never taught on the subject of birth control. The Church does, and the Church's teaching on the subject has changed.
The Church's current position, that a couple may, with good reason, choose to space births is a departure from the previous teaching that couples are bound to accept children as they come. In fact, the notion that a couple may express physical love for one another for purposes other than procreation was anathema not all that many years ago.

If you ask me, there's a conscious movement going on whereby the word 'conservative' is being hijacked to mean 'libertarian'. I think that there are two types of 'Conservative' running around. For sake of discussion, I call them 'Social' conservatives and 'Political' conservatives.
To a 'political' conservative, conservative is meant as in "conservative estimates" or "conservatvie with your money".
A political conservative believes in being careful with our money, careful with proposed solutions to problems, careful with our defense (careful meaning 'stay strong, just in case'), and on and on.
A social conservative, as I understand it, wants to "conserve" older ways of doing things.
In my silly opinion, of course!

What's more shocking is the people who claim to be Catholic and have decided which teachings of the Church are wrong or out dated. People just want their ears tickled these days.
Kessler's speech covered more that using artificial contraception.

This makes me wonder. Did this boy use the term "birth control is selfish" or did he say "artificial contraception is selfish"
Because the Church is not against birth control when it is done using natural methods.
