Hi Gator! Soo nice to hear from you. Thanks also for this message to the city. Will write back soon.
Ha ha ha! That's a great thing to mention! "See how misrepresenting a word can really mean trouble?" or something like that!
Show them a globe. Is it the "Black C" or the "Black Sea"? Is it the "Caspian C" or the "Caspian Sea"? Is it the "Dead C" or the "Dead Sea"? The first one in each case makes no sense and is confusing in English.
City Council sama:
So you have the kanji umi. What would happen if you used the same pronunciation but different spelling (kanji) for umi? Think about that! Soo desho?! Ijyo desu.
Great idea. Thanks.
I'll take a map and make your point. Thank you for the input, Douglas!
Dear Fujisawa City ,
I am a former resident of Kanagawa Prefecture now living in Kumamoto . I understand that the name " C Cross " is being considered to re-name a large section of land in your city . Pardon me for saying so , but the name is ridiculous . If I were you , I'd name the place SEA CROSS . It LOOKS much better and means something . C is a letter of the alphabet ...an average grade in school ...a bra cup size ...Thanks for listening ... Yours sincerely , John Boudreau
Are the beaches at Fujisawa and Chigasaki still having litter problems?
On the "C", you might want to let them know that some may turn it into a far more vulgar expression. "C" Crossing?
Have a care, I am not the only gutter dwelling mind in the world.
You could end up with a very embarrassing name.
How about Rickydozanhama ?
Oh, sushiman, thank you for your letter! It's great and I'll enjoy introducing it! Tasukarimasu!
Ha ha! Thank you for your warning, Al Gator!
Hello FRiends. Thank you again for your input on the city name. I attended the town meeting and presented the ideas you so kindly provided.
After I told them of the reaction of English speakers I reminded them of the following:
Fujisawa Koho city newsletter recently published a front page article saying that English is the international language. Whether or not we agree with this proposition, it is the direction of the City. Shouldnt we try to standardize the approach to international matters?
I don't know if there will be any revision ("it has already been decided...") but if I hear anything, I will post here.
