I did not know Teddy Roosevelt. Certainly I have studied history and seen the grainy video images. I will say with confidence that Teddy was not perfect and made many mistakes but indeed he was a great President nonetheless and more of a liberal than many Republicans would like to remember. A man's image becomes larger than life as time passes. Likewise, I did not personally know Ronald Reagan although I had the please to vote for him. I can also say with confidence that he was not perfect and in some cases did many more things that would be characterized as liberal than George W. Bush. Yet now many Republicans hold Reagan up as a standard of Conservatism. Again, a man's image becomes larger than life as time passes. Do not lament about yesterday's great politicians. They were just as fallible as today's politicians and they did just as many "dirty" deals in order to get things done. Count on it.

I do not Lament yesterdays politicians. I only regret the fact that we have no one today that would make a decent role model , much less a decent president.

Todays role models seem to be Sponge Bob and Scooby Doo. What ever happened to Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, John Wayne.

Todays actors wouldnt make a skid mark in John Waynes skivvy's. Nor would todays politicians stand up against people like Teddy Roosevelt or Harry S. Truman. Not lamenting the fact that they are gone , only that their replacements are third string at best.
