Great figures. Reagan's numbers are kind of striking, eh?

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to try to explain it all away as meaningless.

Amen to that.

It is a simple fact that if a voter tells either party "...but I will support the party's candidate in November," they won't hear another word he says.

That is very true. It is also strange that so many people do not understand this.

"People who continue to promote the idea that Bush is not conservative are deliberately trying to help democrats in my estimation."

I cannot understand this thinking. You might as well have said that if we disagree with you or make you upset we must be satan's minions. It is frustrating enough to face this preschool level thinking from the leftist, why bring it into a conservative forum? While I may agree with some of your points about Bush that does not mean that I have to think of him as a true conservative. I am very happy about a few things his presidency has done for us, but that does not make me a mindless lapdog who can't disagree with numerous other things that he and his admin have done. Yes, on some issues he takes a conservative stance, but certainly not on all. There are a truly significant number of issues that many conservatives are genuinely upset about and for good reason.

And that leads me to another bit of your rhetoric that really got under my skin:
"Everyone keeps trying to pretend he is up for re-election every day. He is not. He is free to do pretty much what he wants"—
I can't help but suspect that you are probably one of those who argued that I and others like me should give it time, during his first term and tried to make it sound like a very important and very intelligent view to understand the need to allow him wiggle room during his first term in order that he could get to a second term and then do more for the conservative agenda at that time. Then when the reality of the second term has hit and proven that Bush is not going to get conservative on the issues that were discussed before-then you have amnesia-you just skip to a whole new argument—he can do what he wants, implying that the rest of us are idiots for wanting him to do the right thing by our country when he is not motivated by a looming election. Heaven forbid that he might care about doing the right thing without an election to force him into it. I don’t even think as badly about our President as you do, if you think about what an insult you just laid at his door.

No, I still think that President Bush is a decent person who tries to do what he thinks is right, However I do not believe that he is using conservative thinking to come to those decisions nearly so often as he should. And I will do more in the future to look for and support the rise of true conservatives in the party (on a local and state level and on into the higher offices.) (as well as to make my positions known to the current President and to the GOP and to my representatives)

And as long as I’m at it and have gone on this long, I’m going to address on more thing: “It is to Bush's credit that he allows immigration to become the big issue.”
That just doesn’t pass the smell test. He may be powerful and he may be the face of the controlling party, but he doesn’t always have the last word on what the country is going to get up in arms about or when or even what the majority of our congressmen will respond to.

"Over half of the Republican Party could be termed so-called conservatives.

90% of Democrats are true socialists.

Where can one turn?"

The solution is to stay in the GOP and fight to keep it holding its conservative principles.
This means voting in primaries and getting informed on the true good guys and true stinkers in the party ... this is from the smallest offices on up.

Tomorrow's US Senators and Governors are today's city councilman or state rep.

In November, vote for the more conservative candidate ... 99% of the time it will be Republican and not the Democrat.
I dont think it is good to vote for spoilers/ 3rd party.

Also, dont send money to NSRC, send it to conservative candidates only.

"I have yet to see one Pubbie party representative interviewed who does NOT toe the RINO line. "

There are plenty of Reps and Senators who are not RINOs.
