My congresscritter in Washington, Democrat Jan Schakowsky of Evanston, is holding a town meeting on the Iraq War Sunday at Northwestern University.
Here are the details:
McCormick Auditorium in the Norris University Center of Northwestern University. Doors open at 2:15pm, the event runs from 2:45pm until 4:00pm. There's a map available on the link.
Jan's special guest will be Rep. John Murtha, (D-Penn.), who became the leader of the cut-and-run faction of the Democratic Party last year by calling for the withdrawal of our troops from Iraq.
Schakowsky, as I've noted before, is one of the most liberal members of Congress.
In January, 2005, Schakowsky called for an immediate withdrawal of our troops from Iraq. She's moderated her view on this subject, a bit, as she notes on her web site:
Representative Murtha is the author of House Joint Resolution 73 (I am a cosponsor), which is a three-step plan to change the direction of the Bush AdministrationÂ’s Iraq policy: redeploy our troops from Iraq, reallocate the money we would otherwise spend in Iraq to pressing security needs here at home; and re-engage with the world in the fight against terrorism.It appears Jan no longer favors an troop immediate withdrawal.
As for her town hall meeting, it will be anything but fair and balanced, since no supporters of our mission in Iraq will be speaking.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend Jan's meeting, because I have a family event to attend. So you can relax, Jan.
Funny, I used to get e-mail updates from Rep. Schakowsky, but they stopped coming about a year ago. Imagine that.

Good news for me. We in Southwest PA won't have to put up with him for a little while.
This guy was one of the great engineers of the 1993 Bottom Up review which shredded the US military. He seems to have forgotten that.
The DUmmies around here keep voting him back into office.

We've got a lady running against him who might beat him. From Washington County, PA. I can't recall her name right now, getting old.

Hope she beats the dog-crap out of Murtha this time around.
I heard her on the Jim Quinn show about four or five days ago. Said she needs money desperately. Says Murtha already has millions left over from other campaigns.
What she needs is grassroots money and it won't take all that much to get the RNC to kick in big bucks once she's shown her own ability to fundraise.
I've got a good mind to send her $100.
Then he'll become a talk show whore and we'll hear him bloviate even more! At least until the war is over or the entire Democratic Party is like a verse from E. A. Poe's Poem the Raven; "Quoath the Raven, Never More!"
