Draft Newt
Draft Newt ^ | 4/30/06 | Draft Newt

America offers great hope for those who believe rightly that the world is a very dangerous place. Partisan bickering in Washington, DC is at an all time high which has prevented our great country from leading in this dangerous world. It has also left our government in a very anemic state where mismanagement, as seen from the recent Hurricane Katrina fiasco, will become all the more commonplace in the future.

We need change. Of those considering running for President in 2008, every one of them has an inherent problem that will not allow them to address the real challenges that America faces: They are all insiders.

Insiders who have been a willing accomplice to the explosive growth in spending over the last eight years.

Insiders who have put partisanship over lack of unity on issues where large percentages of America’s natural majority agree.

We need an outsider.

We need someone who is not beholden to special interests but, at the same time, understands government well enough to get things done. We need a person of ideas.

That person is Newt Gingrich.

From earliest days in Congress, he's been a big picture thinker. And even as a member of Congress, he taught many of us to challenge the status quo. Simply put, Republicans wouldn't be in the majority today without him and we risk losing it this November. Its time to ensure that we keep this majority, win the future and thank Speaker Gingrich. Its time to Draft Newt for President.

He's a reform-minded person who, as Speaker of the House, led the charge to balanced the budget and reform welfare. And he did this with a Democrat President.

After leaving office in 1998, Gingrich took a step back and looked at Washington once again as an outsider. His credentials are strong on defense, the environment and nearly every other domestic economic policy issue.

Most recently, he's been studying health care transformation and has reached across party lines because he knows that's the way things need to get done in America.

Its been ten years since anything truly great has been accomplished in Washington. Isn't it time we desire more from the current group? Isn't it time to demand better results out of our money that we send to Washington?

Isn't it time to draft Newt?

While Speaker Gingrich has given no indication whether he will run for President, grassroots draft campaigns have had powerful effects in the past--the Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan Presidential campaigns both started from nationwide draft movements.

All signs indicate that Speaker Gingrich is committed to playing a role in the 2008 elections because he knows there are big ideas to be debated that need real solutions.

Even if Gingrich decides not to run, supporting this effort means that you support the need for solutions. Solutions to energy, solutions to the environment, solutions to the economy, solutions to education and solutions to national security.

We have real challenges. We have a wonderful country that can solve these challenges.

In the past, our country has always risen to challenges. Its time once again to roll up our sleeves.

Join us today, and be part of something great.

I dunno. While I like Mr. Newt, and admire his intelligence, I have misgivings at the moment. Seeing him stand next to Hellery talking about health care kinda made me wanna hurl. (Can't get that pic outta my mind).

After the way Newt Gingrich honored his wedding vows and dumped his wife when she had cancer plus the fact that he is too chummy with Hitlery, I'll pass.

We need an outsider

Newt is not an outsider. He's just another career politician. The Democrats have already suceeded in running him out of Washington once.

You are right on target with Newt, count me in!

OK he is not perfect, no one is but he would be one of our smartest and most eloquent Presidents in a long time.
