What is perhaps the cheekiest component of the Minuteman persona is the defiance towards the domestic danger... Cheeky?

If more folks around the world took upon themselves this courage and determination, we'd have a lot less sacrificing to do on their behalf. Our Left squandered their time at the reins (60+years) by driving us into a wilderness where most would welcome salvation by 'tyrant-like' leaders to deliver us from the thorns of everyday life- where liberty and rights were abandonded, our constitution and other signposts ignored, leaving us no less desperate than the Donner and Reed partys' attempt to shortcut the Sierras. Witness the cannibalism then and now.
The group that left to summon help in Sacramento (insert Minutemen) faced incredible odds that winter. The Indians who watched them from a distance thought they were crazy to attempt such a trek. And yes, when one died, cannabilism did take place, as no food was available, no hunting possible- given the depth of the snow.
Our reliance upon our Fed-Gov in determining our course is nothing more than a selfish and lazy expression similar to those whose desire it was to reach the 'gold fields' faster than the rest of the wagon train. The states and individuals be damned, so-to-speak.
Short-cuts may involve risk. Short-cutting the path to citizenship may pose great risks. Short-cutting the will of the people to determine their destiny, by placing profits and potential voters ahead of our outlined and well defined constitutional charter may be a risk not worth taking.

How did you know that my left side's my good side? Doesn't matter. As long as it's the one leaving the bedroom for the kitchen to make waffles.
Blueberry waffles.

If people want to call the Minutemen vigilantes then they may as well forget their history.
May as well? Then they have, I say. Or have been unlearned of it. Or don't share it. Or don't care for it.
This book should be a high school class (we'd have waaay less problems):
