Fire weather summary:



Red Flag Warnings: Widespread Warnings are in effect today across the Atlantic states due to very low humidities (mid teens to 20%s) and very strong and gusty surface winds 15 to near 40 mph (highest across the Mid Atlantic states). Red Flag weather conditions are also in effect today across the panhandle of Texas and the state of OK for low humidities Upper teens to 20%s and Southwesterly strong, gusty surface winds 15 to over 35 mph.

Fire Weather Watches: In effect for Thursday for Florida for continued low humidities. Winds will be lighter.

East of the New Mexico central mountain chain and the adjacent high plains, as well as the Guadalupe mountains of far west Texas for strong winds and low humidities.

Weather Discussion: A weather disturbance will bring strong winds combined with low relative humidity levels to the southern Plains and southern Rockies today. Elsewhere, a large high pressure center will settle over the southeastern portion of the country creating dry conditions, and increasing winds in some locations. Relative humidity will drop significantly over the Southeast with the driest conditions over the coastal states from the mid-Atlantic to the Gulf Coast.

Gusty southwest 5 to over 35 mph.
Northerly 15 to over 40 mph.
Northerly 15 to over 25 mph.



Southwest Area

Geographic Area Weather
Mostly sunny to partly cloudy most areas.
Partly to mostly cloudy far northern New Mexico.

High Temperatures
35 to 50 mountains.
55 to 75 lower elevations.

Minimum Relative Humidity
10 to 20%, except 10 to 25% higher mountains.

Wind
West to southwest 5 to15 mph in Arizona. West to southwest winds 10 to 20 mph in New Mexico with higher sustained speeds from east of the central New Mexico mountain chain eastward into the eastern plains. South to southwest winds 10 to 25 mph west Texas.



Southern California

Geographic Area Weather
Partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers over the northern parts of Central California. The snow level will be around 5,000 feet.

High Temperatures
40 to 55 mountains.
60 to 70 valleys.
50 to 60 upper deserts.
65 to 75 lower deserts.

Minimum Relative Humidity
40 to 60% central California and 20 to 40% southern California.

Wind
Southwest to northwest 5 to 15 mph.

The Southern Area GACC has evidently brought their regular website down, and is only posting the Morning Reports there (I imagine their fire people are a bit busy.
