Here is a post that was just deleted on the American Idol message boards. Notice that it refers to a DIFFERENT thread that was ALSO deleted:
"User "armywife" put up a thread a couple of days ago that described how some troops in Iraq felt about the contestants' performances. She brought a unique perspective to the table since the troops had heard the contestants sing, but NOT seen what they looked like.
The troops were from armywife's husband's unit, so NATURALLY many posts were added to the thread saying "God bless," wishing them a safe return, and being generally supportive of the troops.
A few vocal moonbats also joined the thread just to throw insults and make baseless accusations about armywife's husband being a rapist and a babykiller. Some of these whackos went so far as to wish ill will on armywife's husband and the rest of the military. It was pretty offensive.
On a whole, the thread was an extremely positive experience - lots of good vibes, but leave it up to a few bad apples to spoil it for everyone else.
The mods have seen fit to delete the entire thread rather than just the offensive posts. I guess AI doesn't want anyone to support their troops whilst commenting on their precious show.
I'm making a stink out of this because we should. The mods basically gave the moonbats exactly what they wanted - the show of support for our troops was silenced."
I think I know where these mods stand... right in the middle of a "freep-fire" zone.
Oh wait - it actually gets better. Not only was my post deleted, but they took away my posting rights!
That's the point: the original post by armywife WAS about AI. It was the reaction of some people who had only HEARD the voices of the contestants and not SEEN them. She just happened to mention that the people in question were troops from Iraq...
...and now others who are crying "foul" are also getting the boot.
I understand that the board is for AI issues, but the support for the troops was an *incidental* matter. The main thread and most of the subsequent posts acknowledged the fact that it was interesting to get opinions from people who did not actually know what the Idols looked like.
Oh, and wouldn't you know... one of the moonbats who started bashing on the first thread is still around and allowed to post. Her latest post on this subject:
"I reported it and now the post it gone. I don't think that the American Idol board is any place for pro-war propaganda. To personify these monsters or "soldiers" whatever you want to call them is promoting the idea that this war is okay, just and moral, which it is not. People need to wake up to why we are there and just what is happening. Therefore I cannot sit idly back and allow people to act like these soldiers are important people whose opinions matter. They are not fighing for your freedom, they are fighting for oil. So, you uneducated people can keep posting but I will keep reporting."
(It is important to note that the original post was NOT pro-war propaganda. I wish I had the text so you could all read it!)
I remember that thread. I even posted on it. If you are who I think you are I sent you a message too.
It was sad and pathetic how they jumped on it.
The AI boards this year are really bad, and the fans have gone to attacking eachother more than supporting the show. Sad.
