Yes, producers are consumers and consumers are producers. It is up to the individuals to ensure they acquire the talents that are in demand, it is not the responsibility of "society at large." American does not guarantee success, but it does guarantee opportunity. Education benefits the entire country, but no one should be forced to get educated. Thus, governments do have an obligation to make education available. There is no doubt about this point.
If you believe that to be the case, then the next step of assigning folks to certain fields through the use of government force is just as worthy of support.
Thats an amazing feat of mental gymnastics to claim that I support forced anything.
The rest of your post misses a very distinct difference. I am not anti school, I am not anti children and I am not anti family. I am against the Federal government's role in these things today. The involvement of the government is nothing but legalized theft to fund an inefficient system to meet the needs of our economy.
Im 100% behind the idea that state and local government should be responsible for education. The federal government should have a small to no role in this. In the ideal world.
The concept of individual responsibility and market responses would have our country in a much better place today than either public education or SS.
No, I dont think so. These concepts are not exclusionary of each other. Responsibility and the market lead the way. But as a country we could not ever even think of abandoning public education. Thats sure to lead to disaster.

Great! When can I expect a check for all the property taxes I paid to school YOUR children?

Maybe the Undead Thread folks might want this one for their undead thread next month. It certainly has the potential.

The childless shouldn't be allowed to vote. They have little interest in the future of the nation.Really?
