God, how I wish...
If he chose someone to replace a departing Cheney, though, it would be a woman, possibly a minority. He couldn't resist.
Especially after the C. Scott King warmup tonight.
Yeah I'd pay to see that show. lol Nominating someone like Frist, regardless of what a nice guy he is, is like taking a poodle to a pit fight.
Well, Bush doesn't want a Republican to win in 2008, as it would effectively lock the door to a Jeb presidency. That's why they have been courting the Clintons so heavily. The same reason the Clintons sabotaged Kerry in 2004.
I actually believe this will happen. What I can't believe is that the Frister will be the pick.

I don't mean something so narrow. He has always had a streak that makes him want to do something like the Miers nomination, and the Powell as SOS. I just think that since he's picked a couple of white guys for the SCOTUS because he based his choice on quality, he might roll the dice and try to break a barrier, so to speak, and help out the party's image.
How about Rummy? There's just no end to the havoc that can be done to the rats, if you put some thought into it...LOL
You people are ridiculous.
What I can't believe is that all of you are actually believing this! Cheney isn't going ANYWHERE. Remember during the convention there were rumors that he was going to step aside and let someone else be the VP nominee? The rumors are started by libs who are absolutely desperate to get rid of Cheney.
Good Lord willing!
Perhaps because Dr. Frist is a heart surgeon he should be "co-Vice President." That way he can get some on-the-job training, take care of Cheney, and be his private physician until he becomes full V.P. Seriously, I don't know why so many FReepers don't like Frist. I think he's great. Anyway, if the poster's sources are that good I recommend him/her to head the CIA.
You might be right.
I see little evidence that Bush cares a whole lot about a Conservative being elected President in '08, and moving Cheney out and setting up a Conservative Republican for the nomination in '08 could very well be the only chance a Conservative has at this point.
That's absurd. As someone pointed out earlier, only TWO vice presidents have ever been elected president. And one of those was GHWB, whom I suspect you didn't much care for. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that the Republican nominee for 2008 needs to be running as a vice president. Look how that worked out for Al Gore.
Who believes this? We're just having some fun.
Ok so he wasn't elected but you get the idea. Frist? Again one word describes it and I'm from Tennessee. BARF The way things are going in politics lately Poppy's new friend may be the choice. LOL
"If Bush wants to LOSE a significant number of his conservative base...then he will name Frist..."
Care to explain WHY such an appointment would offend "his conservative base?"
What policy positions does Frist support which would offend them?
VP is usually a do nothing position. And such an appointment does NOT annoint him as the 2008 candidate.
There will be a primary for that.
