Laura Ingraham on her radio show is RIGHT NOW talking about John Kerry trying to organize a filibuster from Switzerland and how utterly ABSURD it is.
1. Bush couldn't organize tsunami relief from Crawford, even though all he had to do was pick up the phone and tell military members what to do, and occasionally take or reject their advice. There wasn't a single person he was talking to who had the slightest motivation or ability to say, "No, I'll pass on that. I have other things to do."
2. Koffi Annan, however, could direct UN efforts from the ski slopes of Wyoming. (BTW, on this one I agree with the DUmmies. World leaders have so much access to comm that they're never really out of touch.)
3. Kerry can make this filibuster happen while attending conferences all day in Davos, presumably doing some skiing and socializing. He can do so even though he has never been recognized as a leader in the Senate, and even though numerous Senators have every reason to avoid the filibuster and some have already pledged to vote for Alito.
