No, the site of Detroit was selected years ago. Cities bid to host SuperBowls. There has been plenty of time to plan for this, and as the original poster declared, Detroit is right on the border (even closer than San Diego is, where they played a few years ago).

And who would that be? Dallas? Cinci? Cleveland? Ball-more? I'd be happy with the reverse.

The location was only determined a week ago by a football game.

Detroit was awarded the 2006 Super Bowl back in 2000.

Hey, there was a Tom Clancy novel in which a 747 flew into the Capitol building during the State of the Union address. The difficulty is not in planning these spectacular attacks, but in executing them.

Sorry, but the location was determined years ago. The winning teams do not dictate the location of the Superbowl. Obviously you're not into football.

No but there will be a rash of new laws and programs that clampdown on freedom

Wasn't Padilla based in Detroit? He's the terrorist that was at OKC bombing as per the sketch that our government is not going to acknowlege, and who was later caught smuggling parts for a dirty bomb into the country. This could have been years in the making, and the lax enforcement of the Canadian border is a terrorist's dream.

The Super Bowl was given to Detroit before the Lions even moved into Ford Field.....

I stand corrected. Thank you. So, I guess the scenario does have merit.

Well, this would take the sting out of losing the AFC championship game. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

That "American Hiroshima" was reported in World Net Daily as the phrase used by terrorists. I didn't make it up. Let me clarify, as I said in the last sentence it might be the Superbowl, might be something else, who knows? But it seems to me that we are wrong to write off this audiotape as nothing, and the public should be made more aware of El Shukrijumah. He's out there somewhere in the US or Canada....not in a cave in Afghanistan.

The author of this article is worried about a terrorist coming over from Canada! Really? Given the fact that the largest Arab community in the US is just outside of Detroit, I would think that worrying about terrorists crossing over from Canada is almost funny.

Parochial, ethnocentric view (I'm tempted to say nonsense.) No, the whole world will not be watching, and the Super Bowl winner will not be "World Champions" as this "sport" is "played" in only one country, unlike, say, professional wrestling, which it most resembles. So, your "high profile event", has no meaning outside the borders of this country, no symbolism for anyone else in the world, and meaning and symbolism to themselves and their world is what these bastards look for. The weekly World Wrestling Championships (or whatever they're called) might be from their point of view a better target.
