I was going to take a walk, but finally tracked down the scheduled time for Jobs' keynote (9 AM) and figured I'd better hang out. Any minute now. I wish I had a webcast address, I'd like to see it. Of course, the bandwidth will be swamped...

"iWeb supports one-click publishing to .Mac accounts, and features a variety of built-in templates, support for RSS feeds and more. A theme-based motif lets you create a coherent site and update it whenever the mood strikes without having to worry about breaking the site in the process."
[i gather MacWorld got the text in advance, and prewrote their story, publishing it bit by bit right behind Jobs' presentation]

Oh, and in case anyone wants to know, I've changed my mind.
I want bleeding edge technology...

10:14 am Same sizes. 17", 20". Same design. Same features (isight, front row, apple remote), Same price. What's different.
Intel iMac. Didn't see that coming. Is "First Mac" singular? That would be disappointing, the laptops are in much more need of a speed boost than the iMac.
[bunny suit, which to FReepers brings Kerry to mind, was this]
1:07 PM - "The biggest news this year, of course, is we announced that we were going to shift to using Intel processors in Macs. We announced that by June of '06 we would be shipping ... "
1:09 PM - "I wanted to give you an update today - how are we doing?"
1:10 PM - An Intel clean-room-suit guy walks out of a cloud of smog with a 12" silicon wafer and says, "Steve I want to report that Intel's ready. " Takes off his his helmet -- it's Paul Otellini Intel CEO.
1:10 PM - Steve: "Well, I can report that Apple's ready too"
1:11 PM - "We've worked nights, weekends to make this happen in record time. [to Paul] I want to thank you..."
1:12 PM - Boilerplate keynote act here except for when Paul quotes Bob Noyes, the forgotten Intel cofounder, "Don't be encumbered by history." They shake hands. We've got the camera locked and loaded.
1:12 PM - "So ... today we are gonna roll out the first Mac with an Intel processor."
1:13 PM - "Without any more fanfare, it is the iMac" It looks the same as it does now.
10:14 am Intel Core Duo. an amazing chip.
10:14 am Intel Processor. 2-3x faster than the iMac G5.
10:15 am Two cores. each one faster than the G5.

10:19 am Other developers starting to release universal binaries. Quark universal beta shipping today.
[beta shipping, well, we'll have to wait on that one. The demos shown previously in the keynote were all given on an Intel box]
He hasn't done the "one more thing" yet.
I'm a little curious, so I'm sticking around to the end of this keynote.
I'd be surprised if the laptops aren't unveiled, but OTOH, I would not be surprised if the laptop story was just noise to wind up the world, and now we'll see some completely unexpected product, obviously something to do with electronic media.
10:20 am Microsoft BU update. microsoft rep talking about being on track for unviversal binaries of Office and Messenger.
10:20 am Worked to make sure that current versions of Office run well in Rosetta.
10:21 am all the updates will be avaiable for free on their websites in March.

10:23 am Committing to shipping a version of Office for Mac for minimum of 5 years. Office for Mac is incredibly successful product. We're here to stay and in it for the long term.
1:19 PM - Roz Ho from Microsoft is coming on to say MS Office will be available, we presume.
That's my guess as well.
10:24 am Demoing other apps on Rosetta. Photoshop.
10:25 am Applying script of filters for a King Kong scene. no necessarily enough for pro, but good for most of us.
