Republicans tell you what you need to know. Democrats tell you what you want to hear. In other words, Democrats are snake oil salesmen and to a greater extent, the blacks bought it. A lot of whites bought it too, but not as many.

The republican message of study in school, work hard, don't do drugs, don't be a criminal, plan for the future, take individual responsibility for your well being did not sell.

The democrats said "If you don't do well in school, we will give you affirmative action. We will go easy on you if commit a crime. Drug use is ok in moderation. We will take from the rich whites and give the money to you in the form of free govt. services like health care.
