Thank you for the ping. I'm sorry I'm a bit late in commenting, but this has been a hectic week.

I really enjoyed the piece. I think you hit on a very important connection between Socialism and the anti-war movement. I sometimes listen to Pacifica Radio and Err America (got to know what the enemy is up to), and a lot of the comments I hear from hosts, guests and callers seem to prove your point. All their thoughts on the subject of terrorism have the same theme: "Yes, terrorists do awful things, but if we understood them better and shared our wealth more, they wouldn't do such things." Whenever it's the U.S. vs. some other entity, that other entity is automatically awarded underdog status, and therefore the approval of these leftists.

Don't worry about the late comment: there's no time limit, I promise.

Now, here's another point taking apart the Left's argument: like you said, they assign blame on America for everything. When they are pinpointed for their America blaming by us, here's their scapegoat argument: "We are protesting, and dissenting, because we love America and want to make it better than it is under George Bush." But apparently, their idea of a "better America (a socialist one)" is a country where we will be like the terrorists: we will all be poor, poverty-stricken, underfed and starving...but at least their won't be any "evil" rich people, right?
