Hi all;
'Tis the Season, and I'm looking to upgrade my digital camera from an old 2.3 MP HP Photosmart 612 ...
... to a good, reliable, relatively easy-to-use 5+ MP camera.
Am liking what I'm seeing written about the Olympus C-60 Zoom (6.1 MP), but wanted to what what other FReepers like using/recommend.
BTW
go to a camera store w/ a lot of variety after you have some idea of what you are looking for.
Try holding it in your hands to get a feel. Then, DON'T buy it in the store unless they really have the best price, buy it online. Also, get at least 512MB of memory and an extra battery, you may need to buy a cheap case.
Hey, I like that that review compares the A620 to the A95 that I was considering.
Am looking to keep ex$penditure < $300.
Yeah, that's a good idea.
Did the same thing when buying a motorcycle helmet -- saved $25.
Another afterthought:
whatever you go with, you should consider something with a 28mm lens (several are listed on the web page I mentioned to you above). For years there were *no* point-and-shoots with 28mm except for a couple of the old brick-like Kodaks.
Now there seem to be dozens, and I think you'll really get a lot more out of your camera if it has wide-angle (28mm).
Am seeing one here with 32.5mm
???
I just bought the A620, and I'm very pleased with what I've seen so far. I haven't been able to experiment with all the modes, but the pics I have taken are crisp/clear, have good color, etc...
35-37mm is what you normally see on the digicams. You want to look for "28mm" or "28mm equivalent", if you want wide-angle, which is great for landscape/outdoor shots.
You sly ol' papparazi!
