Desert Dood, whether you like it or not, you are watching the police police in action. Think about it; it's logical. This is not a country where the police and courts ultimately answer to a tsar, or to a Fuhrer, or to a mullah. The police police are the people. It's not some blessed gummint commissioner and it's not nice and neat. It's lowly students and bloggers and people who've smoked weed for years and other people who haven't smoked at all.
Desert Dood, you really want to see this issue provoked to a consequential investigation by the police police? Then by all means continue to argufy and inflame and mock and reason in circles. From a strictly Machiavellian point of view you would do well to remain very quiet at this time. You WANT the police police to be indifferent. You want their indignation to be doused. You want the watchers to nod off. That way the guy gets a quick needle and everyone forgets about it.
