Families will see Uncle Peter or Aunt Rita or even cousin Mike just forego the polite pleasantries and just dig right into the turkey, dressing, or candied yams, without even a blink of moral guilt. Not in our family. Not at Thanksgiving. Not ever.

Same here - we gather everyone together and I say Grace before all meals. Those that don't care for it are welcome to stand there and fume, but most folks either like it or are too polite to say otherwise.
God Bless

Unfortunately for this Thanksgiving we'll be with my non-religious (even anti-religious) in-laws. Grace will not be a part of the meal and it will be sort of strange.
I shouldn't be surprised. I once had to give my husband a crash course in how to say the Lord's Prayer, since he was raised in a totally secular home. I am fortunate that he has since embraced belief, even if he is not always consistent in religious practice.
