"hope and pray that no Koran was harmed"

LOL! I agree. Clean kill shots will help to avoid such disastrous ancillary damage.

This might be a good time for the U.S. to become more isolationist.

Don't forget that someone will be put in charge of the administration of the "global test". And then, not until John Kerry divulges his Secret Plan.

There is one huge difference between Europe and the U.S.

We're ARMED!

And the Muslims know it!

I was being facetious. But I'm not so sure that it wouldn't happen in selected areas. Some places are not "armed." Liberal states have some very stringent gun laws. Interestingly, that's generally where the highest concentrations of muslims are. But in this country, if this were to happen in Detroit for instance, I don't see the initial response being much different than it is in France right now. Far too liberal there. Leadership that hasn't a clue also.

I would expect them to float a trial balloon here somewhere simply to gauge the response, and if that happens, then they'll play their hand accordingly.

Meanwhile, there's a distinct possibility that while large parts of the world are being taken over by Islam, those being taken over will be arguing over whether Bush is the reason as their nations slip away from them while their bickering. Kind of like the player in baseball holding the ball arguing about an out at first while the other runners clear the bases and score runs.

I disagree, my wife and I grew up in Dearborn and left before it got too bad, and we lived just outside of there for years afterwords. I don't think too many people will put up with that s^%$ once they leave their neighborhoods and start moving into others, I really think that for every gun they put in the streets that there will be 20 more waiting for them.
If they want to burn down their own homes and businesses fine, let them burn, but all it would take is for one police officer to announce that people have the right to defend their property without fear of prosecution and we could stop it in a single night I bet.

a total of 20 rounds were fired by the US military in the 1992 LA Riots...

Four serious incidents during the initial phase were particularly memorable. One involved two Guardsmen from an infantry battalion who rescued two girls from a convicted rapist. The other three were the only incidents involving gunfire. The first involved the 40th Military Police Company from the 40th Infantry Division (Mechanized), the first unit on the street. Members helped arrest an armed robber who twice turned his weapon on them. The robber surrendered after four rounds were fired, with no one injured.

The second shooting incident turned out to be by far the most important. A gang member had taunted Guardsmen from the division's support command, telling them he was coming back to kill them that night. This was a rather common threat, but this man was not kidding. He returned in his car after curfew and attempted to run them down. They jumped out of the way, but were not fast enough. One Guardsman was hit, but not seriously. The gang member drove off for a while before returning for his second attempt. When he refused to stop, the Guardsmen fired about 10 rounds at his tires in an attempt to stop him. When it was clear he was determined to run Guardsmen down, they finally used deadly force and killed him with one bullet in the shoulder and two in the head.

Another felon caused the final shooting incident involving Guardsmen when he attempted vehicular homicide. He first hit a car and then ran down a police officer, breaking his leg. When the gang member refused to stop, two infantrymen each fired one round. The gang member then stopped with a serious wound in the buttocks and groin. It later turned out he was on felony probation from Florida for vehicular manslaughter.

Come to think of it, were there any reports of persons killed by our US Military in the Katrina response? The mere introduction of armed troops with shoot to kill orders stops these riots very quickly.

The L.A. riots of 1992 ended when the marauding criminals came up against Koreans with rifles on top of their buildings.

Yeah Koreans!

Well...saying it did, I don't believe GW would wait 10 days before addressing it, more like 10 HOURS or less to have the NG on the streets!

If this were to happen in Detroit for example however, they would be treated like riots, similar to those in LA in recent years, and addressed at the local level initially. I can't imagine the feds stepping in w/o a request by the mayor, then the governor. How long would it take for lib mayors and governors to admit failure?

LOL. Self-reliance in a catastrophe is not a bad thing. Sometimes it's the only thing.

It'll never happen here? I'm betting on Falls Church, Va. (the Bailey's Crossroads area), and Laurel, Md., for starters, given their demographics. Other communities in northern Virginia come to mind, as well.

"It's VERY hard not to laugh."

Yes, it seems the Frogs have this coming. However, it should be recognized that the danger to us all in the West is too real, in particular because France possesses nuclear weapons and the platforms with which to deliver them. France must not be allowed to come under muslim control for that reason. If Europe falls, we in the USA will be in mortal danger because - and only because - of nuclear weapons.

I agree. In fact, I find DEBKA to be excellent. You have to realize, they're willing to jump out with a preliminary assessment of what might've happened within hours of an event. These assessments are going to be wrong sometime. But they let you know, more or less, when they're guessing or printing something based on only a few sources. And usually, they end up being right.
