NIGERGATE: WHY THE FRENCH ARE STILL LAUGHING AT THE U.S.A. (Part III)

I’ve translated a press release that the Italian government has had to issue following yet another attack from the La Repubblica newspaper. I think that this is the third time that the government has officially stated that the articles published by La Repubblica were nothing other than a pack of lies. I guess that this is the ugly side of freedom of the press, you can print lies and false information and get away with it. During the week La Repubblica published a so called “investigative report” by their two star journalists. All of the evidence point to the report being nothing other than a series of lies and falsities. It’s also worth noticing how La Repubblica has become the mouthpiece for the part of the american media that, right just now, is trying to put the Bush aministration in a corner. It’s obvious that the objective is that of putting the governments of both Italy and the U.S.A. into a crisis. All of this at the cost of going against the interests of the journalists very own countries.

Take a look at the translation of the press release to get an angle of what’s been happening, and what is still happening, across in Italy. Seems like the guys at La Repubblica are pushing the old adage that “if a lie is told enough times it becomes a truth”. What a sad state a certain part of Italian journalism seems to be in.

PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS PRESS RELEASE

It is confirmed that the information contained in an article published by an Italian newspaper in regards to the meeting, on 9 September 2002, between the then vice Secretary for National Security, Stephen Hadley, and the Director of SISMI, Nicolò Pollari, has been presented in a manner which is totally false.

The meeting, planned and held in accordance to strict official protocol by the CIA, between the then Secretary for National Security, Condoleezza Rice, and the Director of SISMI, Nicolò Pollari, was held in the presence of the Italian delegation and an American delegation of which Stephen Hadley was part.

Talks were held exclusively between Condoleezza Rice and the General Pollari. All of the others present simply assisted without actively participating. The meeting, which lasted approximately fifteen minutes and was held in rigorous adherence to official protocol, concerned various international scenarios and intelligence cooperation between the two countries. There was no reference, direct or otherwise, to problems concerning the Iraq-Niger question.

The encounter, on the contrary of the false accusations, was not held without the knowledge of the CIA but was organised by the very same CIA which – as stated above – organised it, accompanied the Italian delegation to it and a CIA official was present throughout all of the phases not least the talks held between Rice and Pollari.

The continuous attempts to accredit a diverse account of the meeting are, as already stated, false and best interpreted through the words, pronounced to journalists of an Italian newspaper, of the National Security Council spokesperson, Frederick Jones: “that which was done with my declarations is a dishonest and incorrect form of journalism”

So as the Press release point out it’s lies galore at La Repubblica. The paper is Italy’s second largest and possibly it’s most important. Its interesting to note that while “Libby” is facing up to 30 years in prison the authors of La Repubblica’s report are getting off scot-free with having named high level officers of Italy’s Military Intelligence Service on more than one occasion. Crazy affair in a country where the local journalists spend more time crying over a lack of freedom of the press than checking out their facts.

I can only conclude that over at La Repubblica, as well as inside the offices of certain members of the American media, they had an interest in NOT checking out their facts. A policy that does nothing other than go against the interests of thier respective countries but a policy that suits the interests of a third nation: France.

France’s attempt to help saddam and also block America in the UN, this is not characteristic of a friend and ally.
They are ungrateful, they even desicrated American graves, the very men who lost their lives in liberating them.
I still advocate boycotting products from French companies.

France can always be trusted to betray her "allies".
