Here's what george wrote on the thread:
I disagree with you.
He's being hounded by stating his opinion, not by denying any woman's right to work.
As a matter of fact, he has been instrumental in helping several women succeed in their chosen field.
He will continue to succeed, since he's a genious. The losers are the people involved in the witch hunt
Now, here's what george doesn't seem to understand: when someone in this guy's position -- and, he was at the very top of the heap -- states an "opinion" as derogatory to women as he did, it is not merely an "opinion." It is called something else: an expert opinion.
So, if he were to have stayed in his job, then, a lot of people BELOW his TOP OF THE HEAP position would be able to justify their continued discrimination aainst women in that industry by saying: Well, look at Neil French and what he said about women in top creative positions. So, we don't have to give a qualified woman a fair chance.
That's why Neil French is OUT.
Now, I would be curious to know what you think of the excerpt I posted on the thread about the way musicians in symphonies are now hired -- by MERIT. I know conservatives do believe in MERIT. That's what I believe it, too. That's why it doesn't bother me how many people misundertand why I posted this article. MERIT is what counts. Not a macho crap attitude or any other attitude. MERIT. TO GET THE JOB DONE WELL. I think George would feel the same way on that, and if so, I would agree with him, too.

That might come as news
to modern composers who
hear their work performed!
