The fact is plain however. This particular piece is from the Hillary wing of the Democrat party. Instead of coming out and totally slamming Harriett for her adherence to the standard crazy Bible Thumping views, it instead leaves one with the impression it gives a bona fide air of legitimacy to her nomination.
And that is 'not good'. Like the Roberts nomination, I had terrible misgivings about him. The fact the Democrats liked him so much, that so many voted for him, that so many in the MSM were unperturbed by him...; that simply wasn't 'good news' to me.
And now the MSM is gleefully chronicling ... what? How the GOP is splitting itself over Harriett? And, yes, they are not going after Harriett herself. Just like they played kid gloves w/ Roberts.
Maybe this will change. Time will tell. I'm sticking w/ my original prediction that Harriett will eventually be fully supported by the GOP (for the sake of the war objectives), and the democrats will tuck tail and run, b/c the only group they'll really make mad by fighting her is Evangelicals. And quite a few of those are still voting Democrat, and the rest will simply be even more motivated to work the grass roots next election cycle.
So, Miers still wins thus. But, I have tiny this nagging doubt after reading this...; I hope I'm dead wrong, and my original 'gut' response' about her comes true.
BTW, Disciples of Christ is a very liberal denomination.
I can live with that.
Are we nominating a Pope?
