Thanks for the reminder. We really need to get back on the ball. After Katrina, we were totally swamped with just trying to keep the site online. Since then, we've pretty much dropped the ball. We've actually been discussing the possibility of asking a few DU members to take the lead on the activist corps, to help make sure that we have one or two actions each week. Because it's difficult for the admins to find time to focus on it. We are eager to get going again. Sorry about the delay. Skinner, you're a ball of fire there. No wonder your . . . zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I have to concur 100% on Ms. Ingraham's show. I'm tired of the subject-that-must-not-be-named. The horse is dead.

Please consider folding into your new structure. . . . Please consider folding.

the floating activist framework Kind of like a floating crap game. And you guys float a lot of crap.

All bluster, no action. The new DUACo motto.

I have a hard time getting DUers to spend $4 at Kinkos and flyer to effect change. Maybe you can get them to spend a few dollars at the Kinko's in Abilene, Texas, to fax phony memos to Mary Mapes.

After Katrina, we were totally swamped... Poor choice of words. Of course, they are used to floating in crap, so maybe they were swamped.

----I have a hard time getting DUers to spend $4 at Kinkos and flyer to effect change.---- For four bucks at Kinko's you can copy 25 forged documents about the military records of Republicans and fax them off to whomever is anchoring the CBS Evening News this week. Four freakin' bucks. Cheapskate DUmmies.

Thanks for the reminder. We really need to get back on the ball. After Katrina, we were totally swamped with just trying to keep the site online. I know less than zero about web site management (but in the best DU tradition, I will comment on it anyhow). Is it likely that Katrina really "swamped" them "just trying to keep the site online"? Unless their administrators all lived in areas struck by the hurricane, how would it affect them? I'm just curious as to how likely it is that the hurricane caused them technical damage. Sounds too much like a "dog ate my homework" excuse to me.

Stop reading my mind! (Actually, PJ, I can't believe you didn't run with this one yourself.)

DUAC is conducting their own witchhunt that would put Sen. McCarthy seem mild.
They sure got an appropriate name.

Please consider folding into your new structure some ways to capture that energy specific to big events. When those crucial moments arrive and you are busy keeping the site up and running, the floating activist framework will function without extra attention. I used to work with someone that talked like this and regularly suffered through the most painful weekly meetings with her. Fortunately my company sh*t-canned her before I was driven to violence. She was most likely covering up her incompetence by rambling on like that.
And now that I reflect on it, she probably was a Democrat.

"I have openly wondered why there is no movement really organizing at the grassroots in the US to end absolute poverty ('world hunger') or why no sustained peace movement so that when wars come up, we don't have to turn to groups like ANSWER."
Like, hey man, the Sixties are over.
