Mary Mapes wasn't the only biased incompetent at See-BS News See-BiaS.

It was another day of exhausted exultation. I got congratulatory e-mails, phone calls, and pats on the back. . . . I was thrilled. . . .
. . . a handful of far right Web sites. . . .
. . . hard-core, politically angry, hyperconservative sites loaded with vitriol. . . .
a longtime Republican political activist. . . . Mary, your bias is showing.

these library computer rooms are VERY ANNOYING.
Especially if the guy next to you looks and acts like Mohammed Atta on meth.Oh, I'm sorry - didn't know it was you.

I was told that the first posting claiming the documents were fakes had gone up on Free Republic before our broadcast was even off the air! "I was told. . ." See, Mary? You didn't even bother to check on that!
To: PJ-Comix
I was online visiting Web sites I had never heard of before: Free Republic. . . .
It had taken our analysts hours of careful work to make comparisons. It seemed that these analysts or commentators---or whatever they were---were coming up with long treatises in minutes. . . .
I was told that the first posting claiming the documents were fakes had gone up on Free Republic. . . . See the arrogance in her attitude: "How dare those uppity little right-wing websites question our story! I can't even be bothered to consider the possibility that they might be right!"

And even if "the substance" of the memos is true- who cares? The President has admitted himself that he used to drink to excess in those days. And the fighter he was trained on was obsolete. Given the circumstances, I would have been inclined to 'let him slide' until his enlistment was up, just to get rid of him.Even more to the point, why was the issue of GWB's Guard service even an issue after 2 terms of X42? We know X42 schemed to avoid the draft and had no level of military service yet the left wanted to focus on Bush at the end of his service. Amazing!

Mary Mapes new book, "Truth And Duty" I'll put that on my shelf right next to Bill Clinton's new book, "Integrity and Honesty."

A high school journalism student would know enough to check up on sources before going with a story. Unless that high school journalism student is so blinded by absolute hatred of conservatives that he or she WANTS TO BELIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To: PJ-Comix
Why aren't any high level Democrats looking into this? Rovian Mind Control.

This wasn't the DUmmies, this was Mary Mapes, Dan Rather's producer.
The quote is from her book, which is being excepted on Amazon.
Very rarely do you get to read in somebody writing in their memoirs, "Then I heard a honk, turned around and there was a 16-wheeler 6 feet from my face, coming right at me."
Enjoy it.

Allahu fubar. I smoked four hookahs of shisha and drank six cups of double espresso before going there.

I think at this point the newsrooms are almost completely filled with Repubs, top to bottom.

Kalb asked Rather why he did not return to the story and investigate those who created the guard files, passed them off to a former TANG officer and hence to CBS's 60 Minutes, and tipped off right-wing bloggers
Say what?! Thats the first I've heard that one.

Paging John Conyers... We'll call it the AKM (Abilene Kinko's Memo) Scandal or AKM-Gate. Conyers can hold a hearing in a broom closet in the Capitol basement, 200 DUmmies will gather in Lafayette Park and hear anti-Zionist speeches from ANSWER, Pied Piper Pitt will declare it to be Still Another Day When Everything Finally Changed, and the DUACo armchair activists will kick and nominate.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will . . . yawn.
