Of Pornographic Interest

From here:

NEW YORK Sep 30, 2005 — A federal judge Thursday ordered the release of dozens more pictures of prisoners being abused at Abu Ghraib, rejecting government arguments that the images would provoke terrorists and incite violence against U.S. troops in Iraq.

U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein said that terrorists "do not need pretexts for their barbarism" and that suppressing the pictures would amount to submitting to blackmail. (emphasis added)

"Our nation does not surrender to blackmail, and fear of blackmail is not a legally sufficient argument to prevent us from performing a statutory command. Indeed, the freedoms that we champion are as important to our success in Iraq and Afghanistan as the guns and missiles with which our troops are armed," he said.

Perhaps terrorists don't need a pretext for their "barbarism", but it certainly doesn't hurt their PR either. Nor do we need passions inflamed in the Muslim world. Does anyone remember the false Koran flushing fiasco? Indictments have been made. Punishments have been meted out. Releasing these photos denotes nothing more than a prurient pornographic interest in inciting more chaos and bloodshed, putting our soldiers further into harms way.

As a parent of soldier soon to be in theatre, I make the following offer to this moonbat judge:

Your Honor (and I use that term ever-so-loosely), if you are so hell-bent on releasing those inflammatory photos, and are of the belief that releasing of same will not make any difference, and will result in no more bloodshed than would otherwise be the case, I would then invite you to paste those pictures on a sandwich board, and take a little stroll through downtown Baghdad... for ohhh... say... 10 minutes. If you last that long.

The U.S. government must appeal this ruling. All the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary.

"U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein said that terrorists "do not need pretexts for their barbarism"

The government did not argue that releasing the photos would be a 'pretext' to attack our troops, they clearly argued the pictures could aggitage an already murderous enemy and cause them to strike all with all the more venom.
The pictures would also help the enemy to rationalize their murder spree, or in other words INCREASE THEIR MORALE.

This judge is obviously a seditionist who wants to see our efforts in Iraq fail. It's pathetic liberals like this judge who helped bring about the 9-11 attack, because as President Bush said, our previous liberal leaders were too timid to strike back against these terrorists with a vengeance, and they viewed us as a bunch of wimpy, self-hating dolts.

Nor do we need passions inflamed in the Muslim world.

Passions are pretty much inflamed in the Muslim world in perpetuity and will continue to be inflamed until the Western world either converts to Islam wholesale or commits mass suicide.

I, for one, am sick of pandering to the delicate sensibilities of these animals. Does anything not offend these barbaric savages? We are talking about a culture that will stone a rape victim to death for the crime of having sex outside of marriage yet photos of these "men" with panties on their heads "enrage the Muslim world."

Well, guess what? Muslims enrage MY world! They are the ones who need to conform to standards of civilized, human behavior, not us. Personally, I say release the photos. Why? Because I would find the photos of Muslims in humiliating, degrading poses to be entertaining. Screw them! Until they learn to behave, they deserve whatever treatment was meted out at Abu Ghraib, offenses, I may add, pale in comparison to the way they treat Westerners.

I would then invite you to paste those pictures on a sandwich board, and take a little stroll through downtown Baghdad... for ohhh... say... 10 minutes. If you last that long.

He wouldn't last 10 minutes, sandwich board or no sandwich board.
