The NRA is a political machine that cares for the Second Ammendment just a little more than the GOP. They have a terrific pension for compromise, and selling out.

I dropped them like a bad habit years ago. I support the JPFO and recommend that all gun owners do likewise.

"They have a terrific pension for compromise"

How much does the pension pay, and when can I start collecting?

It's penchant, not pension. I won't disagree with the compromise comment, but they are the 800lb gorillas of 2nd Amendment advocacy which garners respect (and fear) from the other side.

A continuing old wife's tale from another gun group.

The NRA has been compromising for the last forty years since we didn't have the votes in the congress, senate or the presidency.

Now more conservatives are in power, the NRA and the other gun groups are making better changes such as the concealed carry laws and the sunset of the Assault Weapons Ban. With the changes to the Supreme Court we may even see a ruling that would outlaw gun laws.

JPFO isn't even titled as a lobbying group. They have an educational status. Not that I don't admire them. They are making inroads into the largest dem party supporters.

Thanks for the ping, Shooter. Hiredhand, I cannot disagree with you more on your assesment of the NRA. Simply look at how quickly and effectively they responded to the nonsense going on down in New Orleans. I'm glad you support the JPFO, as I have been nothing but impressed with them as an organization. But to compare the NRA with the GOP is ludicrous. President Bush himselfr supported extending the assault weapons ban, while the NRA fought tooth and nail and succeeded in stopping it.

I feel that there are so many out there who want nothing more to disarm us that infighting between gun groups will only help them and hurt us. The RKBA is too important of a right to lose to pettiness and bickering.
