With three combat tours in Nam I never understood the fascination with taking these kinds of photos. I have spent thirty plus years trying to forget most of what I saw, why would I want photos of dead men. Not something I would want to show my family and friends.

I would guess that taking the pics and making a sort of a game of it helps them de-personalize the enemy and deal with the carnage. Revenge and morbid humor make sense too. People slow down for car wrecks right.
