I was talking about this stuff with the pizza delivery guy just yesterday. He was fresh back from Iraq. Told me he was putting in for disability due to his "post traumatic stress," which he admitted was total BS, but if the money was there he was going to take it. Said he was thinking about breaking his own foot so he wouldn't have to back and I offered to do the job for him. Screwed up my pizza order too. Not everybody in the service is a gem.
I'm just amused that they didn't realize this stuff was going on. Or perhaps they did, and never thought to politicize it until now.
That is pure B.S. Never in all my years of service have I ever observed anything like that, heard of anything like that.
Quit slamming our servicemen.
I'm not slamming them. I'm giving you all a heads up. The media is going to come down on this and if the Pentagon is smart they will start cracking down now on a behavior that is obviously ignored/tolerated if not tacitly accepted.
Or is the Bush admin going act clueless--again?
I would guess that taking the pics and making a sort of a game of it helps them de-personalize the enemy and deal with the carnage. Revenge and morbid humor make sense too. People slow down for car wrecks right.
C,
You're right. I learned the hard way though that to say as much around here is blasphemy.
Perhaps the Pentegon doesn't know about this site. What is the website do you know? Could these pictures had been posted by someone other that a soldier, using this for propagada purposes? How can one prove that American forces took or posted these pictures?
It's call NowThatsF***dUp.com without the asterisks. The site is heavily oriented towards the military and the people who run it are obviously familiar--they might even be in the service themselves. The vibe is pro-America, pro-war and not leftist by any means.
I will not post a link to the site, but you can Google "soldiers trade photos porn" and find links to sites which have links to this obscene site.
I caution you, however, that the site doing this is a very, very nasty site. It doesn't seem to have any malware stuff on it, but it is a very ugly site, indeed.
Visit at your own risk.
Thanks for the info, and this is very disturbing. I'll pass this to hubby who is military. This needs to be shut down!
Thanks for the warning. I really don't want to view this but others in authority may.
