Commission, Who Needs a Stinking Commission

Commission Commission, that is all that I have been hearing every since Hurricane Katrina died over the Ohio Valley at the end of last week. I have had it up to my eyebrows with Commissions that are mostly a gotcha and Cover Your Ass game.

What I want to know is what good is a Commission anyway. They have never done anyone any good, just gave some old forgotten and washed up politicans another moment in the limelight. Case in point the farce of the 911 Commission.

Everytime something happens that spook the politicans, they call for a commission to investigate. Pearl Harbor, The Kennedy assassination, and the latest fiasco known as the 911 Commission. Frankly all of these were a major waste of time and taxpayer dollars and did do anything expect bring out more unanswered questions.

Let’s start with the Pearl Harbor investigation or what is know as the Robert’s Commission. This was a witchhunt and the scapegoating of two the finest American military officers in American history from day one. Admiral Kimmel and General Short. These fine men were scapegoated, because the top brass of the Army and Navy were out playing patty-cake, when they should have been telling their field commanders what was going on. The heads of General George C Marshall and Admiral Stark should have been the ones on the stake; along with the heads of the Naval and Army intelligence chiefs, instead of Kimmel and Short.

If there was a farce worse than the 911 Commission, it was the Warren Commissinon. This Commission had to be chaired by one of the most incompentant Chief Justices of the United States has ever had. This commission had their orders from day one to make sure that no government employee was ever blamed for the event. The Commission already had the culprit pegged and they were not going to let anyone or anything change their mind. That is right, the Government already had Lee Harvey Oswald pegged as the man gulity of the murder. The gall of a junior minority counsel of coming up with a theory that a bullet hit more that one person and coming out pristine has got to beyond belief. Even the other members of the Commission found that one hard to swallow, but swallow it they did. Now this junior minority counsel is the head of one of the most powerful committees in the United States Senate. That is right, this same man is none other than Arlen(Magic Bullet) Spector, the chairman of the Senate Judicary Committee.
