Geraldo Rivera appeared on The OReilly Factor this evening to discuss a false story printed by The New York Times. Television journalist, Alessandra Stanley wrote the following snippet that is hidden at the bottom her the article:
Some reporters helped stranded victims because no police officers or rescue workers were around. (Foxs Geraldo Rivera did his rivals one better: yesterday, he nudged an Air Force rescue worker out of the way so his camera crew could tape him as he helped lift an older woman in a wheelchair to safety.)
News reports alerted the world, and, it seems, an inattentive federal government, to the neglected victims in New Orleans. And television networks even acted as benefactors, holding star-studded telethons to raise money for the storms victims.

I saw this on FOX tonight..... maybe they only showed the part where Geraldo was "carrying" the old women down the stairs while the real vidio was "upstairs" where "whorealdo" shoved the GI out of the way? If you watch any of the medi-whore geraldo's vidoes he does always put himself FIRST, story second like he is above everyone else. What a bit-o-shit he is.
As far as O'Riely.... have you seen the whole tape???
Not that I condone what leftist reporting of what actually happened.... I find it easily to believe just because it was Geraldo doing the pushing..
I think Geraldo has a bad name out there for his work on CNBC .. but I can tell you he is really no "me me me" journalist. He made that clear on his OReilly and Hannity&Colmes appearences. He did help save lives.
As for this video.. you saw the AirForce GI come in and walk out, that is because the man behind the woman, but nearest to the bottom of the stairs kindly told him that he [the man] can handle it.
Just that way. They can't change.
I just watched a tape where Geraldo was helping another man help an old lady who was in a wheelchair down the stairway. Geraldo was on the upper side of the lady and the other man was holding the handles of the wheelchair.
They were bringing the chair down the stairway backwards, which is a very common technique.
The man who was on the lower side had a soldier offer assistance which he refused until they had the ladys wheelchair down on the floor. At that point the soldier took control and wheeled the chair backwards through a doorway.
Now if you want to trash Geraldo, that's fine with me. Have you seen "the real vidio"? I doubt if you have because O'Reilly and Geraldo were discussing how the attorney would handle the matter of suing the NYT reporter when they showed the tape.
If you are going to trash someone, please do it accurately. Now if you think I'm kissing his butt, here's a copy of an email I sent to him yesterday.
Shep & Geraldo,
I saw your emotional reports about the people suffering their way through Katrina. You guys aren't fools. This isn't your first disaster.
Why didn't you tell the young men who had shoes on their feet to go out and find food and water for the elderly, the women and children? So what if they have to walk 10 or 20 miles to keep the babies and moms fed? Fifty young men could have gone to the food stores and instead of looting for Nikes sneakers, watches or electronics, loot for subsistence materials to keep their own families alive. Carry the materials back to the needy in shopping carts or in back packs, whatever is necessary.
Tell the people that hot water heaters have 30 or 40 gallons of drinkable water in them. Wipe the bathtub with Clorox and fill it with water before a city loses it's water pressure, don't bitch about not having anything to drink if you can't think 12 hours ahead!
I think either of you could have made a serious contribution to the recovery effort if you had used your heads and given these people directions on how to stay alive. I do hope to see a better performance from you both during the next hurricane.
Sincerely,
Sparks, Nevada
I did see Harry Connick help rescue a very old man that lived near his fathers house. I felt he was genuine. I also felt had he not gone to check out his fathers place that this old man may not have been found alive.
Also I can not believe the idiot Mayor Nagin had time to meet with Oprah. He even had time to take her on a tour of the abandoned Superdome. How that helped anyone is beyond me other then to sensationalize the place.
I am assuming that he wanted to show how NOLA was taking care of the Katrina victims.
SOME people will believe anything The New York Times says. Just like an orgasm everybody repeats "It's Bush's fault."
ah, I only saw the video that fox showed us, thats all I was saying. They can edit it too. I was only pointing out that GR 100% of the time has a camera on him. My question is where is the video from UPSTAIRS? Think about that.
And there are those who don't believe that some Gore/Kerry voters post here.
I have and I doubt it watching two men prepare to lift someone down a staircase was at all newsworthy. Quite likely the GI wasn't upstairs.
Jerry Rivers should get his own show on another station...I'm tired of looking at him.
Does have a ring of truth to it. Caviat, I have not seen the video in question.
Look at the tape and judge for yourselves. The GI asked the guy in front if he needed help. Geraldo was six feet further up the stairs, HELPING. The New York Times wouldn't recognize the truth even if it bit them on the butt.
but you dont know that. But most likely the CAMERAS where rolling UPSTAIRS.... They just didn't SHOW IT, Its Geraldo. Believe what you want and I will of course.... Have a nice thought, your entitled of course.
