No flames. When you say "gun control advocates are actually seeking some form of stiffer control" what you need to add, is that the ultimate goal is ban private possession of arms. The US Constitution as written does not allow that. Prior to the 14th Amendment maybe the states could do that, but not after it was passed. Forgive my ignorance on this issue, I'm Canadian. I just can't believe anyone in the US would agree to allow this or even try to get this to happen. You've all seen what's happened in Canada with attempts at gun control...it doesn't work. The people don't abide by it, police don't enforce it and the government doesn't know how to use it. Any further attempts to stiffen laws in Canada would be rejected by the entire populace.
