Rachel Maddow as sub host for Al Franken, was interviewing Julia Reed, a well-known writer who lives in New Orleans. Reed said she was "ashamed" to have the mayor and governor she has. Both of them blew it big time. The mayor, she claimed, was on radio Monday night downplaying the situation, and saying that people breaking into pharmacies was not a big deal. She said New Orleans is unsafe most of the time -- cops can't stop the gangs -- so officials should have known a hurricane would create big-time lawlessness

She said homes on St. Charles Ave are now occupied by people who didn't own them. "Desperate people" replied Maddow -- No, "lawbreakers," said Reed.

A later caller complained that Reed sounded like a Rush Limbaugh

I have read actual inmates were released prior to the hurricane as they had not plan to evacuate them.

This is a myth...
I would agree.

I watched last Sat or Sun, one of the last press conferences before the storm hit and the sheriff was asked about moving the inmates.

He said something along the lines of, "The inmates are just where they need to be right now", meaning he wasn't going to move them anywhere.

Though, he may have changed his mind after the town started to flood.

Is that maybe because Mayor Nagin has no clue of how to run a big city? He lost control of the city long before Katrina. It sounds like he is a man who just sits like a coward in his cushy, little office while the city is overrun by gangs. If it weren't for the draw of Mardi Gras, that city would be completely bankrupt.

About dang time people speak up and call it like it is even on trashy Air America. With all the time and resources available to the state from the governor to the mayor, people should have been evacuated long before the category 4 hurricane hit or at the very least precautions taken to minimize damage.

Saw while ago some old LA Democratic political hack on MSNBC(?) (I channel surf so fast sometimes, can't recall the dang channel) being interviewed in-studio by a reporterette. She started off by asking him about what could have been done to prevent the NO disaster, and he launched into the now established talking point about funding being denied by the Feds (read: Bush) for the levee system, then suddenly took an off ramp and started raving about how the President had insulted the LA National Guard during some statements earlier today, practically YELLING about how OUTRAGEOUS this alleged statement was and that Bush must APOLOGIZE immediately. The reporterette then ended the interview, perhaps a bit sooner than intended.

 

The moonbats are definately on the march.
