We have good working relationships currently with both, but I feel that is based off of nothing more then mutal needs or a relationship of convience.
we DON'T have friendly relationships with Syria right now. I believe that Syria is still under US sanctions. But we DO consider Jordan a friend in the area.

you are correct Syria is under sanctions currently. as for Jordon I agree that we (Diplomatically speaking) consider it a friendly nation. My concern with Jordon is how much control do they have of the radicals in their population and do they care to control the radicals or give them a short lease.
I have not heard strong condemnations of the recent attacks by either government. I am beginning to believe that their lack of commentary and condemnation of these attacks is silent acceptance.
I hope that I am wrong and that there are forces at work to stop these guys that took these shots. But I fear that we are going to see this more and more often around the world including here before things get better
