Rent from a local music store until you're sure he'll stick with it. Then go for a good brand like Yamaha.
So Yamaha is decent... I checked EBay they are selling a few Yamahas on there for under $200. I checked a local store and its $20 a month to rent...
I think I might be better served buying an EBay one. I will have to price more renting in the local area though, thanks for the tip.
