A friend of mine just sent me this site in a e-mail.

My outrage at being accosted by protesters at a troop support rally has now turned to sheer pity for this woman and wonder where we go from here. I guess Club Gitmo is next. Shell be calling for the release of all detainees. Oh, but not before the impeachment of George Bush.
You see, if we can blame George Bush for everything, then we never have to take responsibility for anything.
Im so glad I live in a country where men and women volunteer their service to defend us against an enemy that wants to kill us. And Im also glad that the decision to go to war was not made by a dictator, but was voted on by an act of Congress, not an act of George Bush.
If you dont like the war, you might also want to consider pitching your tent in front of the houses of 535 members of Congress.
Im terribly sorry that Cindy Sheehans son lost his life, but last time I checked that young man volunteered to fight for this country and nothing on his contract stated that Mom would have to approve all orders for her son.
While tragic as this is - and I dont take any death lightly - its still no different from our police officers and firemen who go out every single day and face death.
We should protest in front of every Police Chiefs house for sending our sons or daughters into rough neighborhoods where drug deals have gone bad, and the officer never makes it out alive.

I recently read an article by Thomas Sowell in which he quotes John Kerry saying something to the effect that activating National Reservists is the same thing as an "unofficial draft." Sowell then asks if joining the National Reserve means never having to be activated.
This is why Sowell is one of my favorite modern commentators.
As far as Mrs. Sheehan goes, she's lost a son in Iraq and deserves to be upset. But since she met with President Bush a year ago (after which she said she felt much better) and is now demanding to meet with him again (although the mainstream press won't mention the prior meeting), tells me that she's just having a hard time coping with her son's death. And she might never be able to cope with it. Instead of a grieving mother, she is now a symbol and an excuse by the anti-war movement to launch a well-publicized protest.
I wish Mrs. Sheehan well, but I also wish she would get herself some therapy. Her son was part of a VOLUNTEER military force. There is always the possibility of war. Perhaps President Bush should camp outside of her home until she explains why she allowed her son to volunteer.
