Another one I watch from time to time is "Stargate" (the movie). Plot makes absolutely no sense at all, regardless of the technological angle, until the nimrods get to the planet.

Very good. Have it on DVD and watch it often. Our family always watches "Independence Day" on the week of the 4th of July. The speech by Bill Pullman always brings me to the verge of tears.
