A Veterans Day bump, thank you, and reminder, for all my friends on FR who have supported our troops on our project or others I've been involved with in the past.

1009 troops and counting have been sent a Hobbit Hole knife, a small but useful token of our appreciation for their service. Please continue to support our troops in any way you can. We would appreciate and use your donation to send more knives and tools to the troops, but there are many ways to serve them. Their fight goes on every day, even the days we don't remember.

FrodoPlease support our Hobbit Hole Pocket knives for the troops project.

Our personal support does make a difference and it is vital that we continue to help our soldiers in any way possible.

Because of the Hobbit Hole knife project, I was introduced to a wonderful Army Captain, currently serving in Iraq. I purchased two knives and sent them to him, and he distributed them to two of his soldiers who could use them the most.

This is a portion of an e-mail that I received from him today:

Will try to remember the CD I burned with all the group pictures tomorrow. This place has aged me. It is a good thing I have less than 24 days!! Thank you for all your support! You have really help time go by quickly. Your friendship, thoughts and just banter were certainly something to look forward to and continue to look forward to. Just wanted to say thank you. I will write you tomorrow.

Sometimes it is the little things that count the most. Without the Hobbit Hole's inspiration, I would not have gotten off my butt and contacted a soldier in Iraq.

I can not thank you enough for what you have done for both of us.

I've just added major amounts of new gadgets and tools to our Hobbit Hole troop site, freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net (I wish I could figure out how to make the HTML work right).

These goodies range from inexpensive to pricey, but they're all high-tech, and quite useful for combat troops. I bought one of each item to evaluate. The first Soldier or Marine who asks for the item gets it.

These goodies might also start your thought processes going on your own ideas for something other than hard candy and/or socks as gifts. It's almost too late to guarantee delivery for Christmas, but you can make any day Christmas with the right gift to a Marine or Soldier.
