Political blogs are influential and in some cases form a feedback loop with the mainstream media. And, some popular blogs occasionally deal with illegal immigration or related matters.
If you want to influence the coverage of illegal immigration, just posting at FR won't do it. Consider spending a few minutes a day monitoring one or more popular blogs and posting on-topic, informative comments. Of course, don't get in stupid fights, post stupid comments, post off-topic comments, or the like.
Here's a list of the more popular blogs:
instapundit.com (Bush supporter; no comments, only links to other sites; every month or two might have something about II)
professorbainbridge.com
reason.com/hitandrun (libertarians who used to post many entries about II, usually smearing opponents and supporting open borders; have posted fewer such entries after they realized that "cheap" labor is subsidized labor)
redstate.org (strong Bush supporters)
washingtonmonthly.com (liberal who lives in Irvine, CA and who doesn't post about II that much or understand the issue)
captainsquartersblog.com (Bush supporter)
polipundit.com (strong Bush supporters)
dailykos.com (like DU)
mediamatters.org (Soros-funded group that doesn't understand II issue but occasionally posts something about it when O'Reilly, etc. says something)
atrios.blogspot.com (worse than DU, but apparently doesn't delete comments)
mydd.com (lefties, one of whom worked on Antonio Villaraigosa's campaign)
talkleft.com (Leftie lawyer with restrictive comments policy; opposes MMP)
andrewsullivan.com (no comments)
littlegreenfootballs.com (mostly terrorism-related but occasionally II; too many comments)
crookedtimber.org (Leftie academics; oppose MMP)
pandagon.net (works or volunteers for Jerry Springer)
windsofchange.net
rogerlsimon.com (strong Bush supporters)
outsidethebeltway.com
balloon-juice.com (moderate WV Republican, rarely posts about II)
danieldrezner.com/blog

You have a good idea, but considering the amount of time I spend sitting on the border, I'll let those of you who can't join us do the blogging.
