Nikola Tesla: Unsung genius or raving loony?
The history of technology is populated with a marvellous cast of characters. On the one hand you have the colourful, hard-working inventors like Thomas Edison who slaved away morning, noon and night to produce many of the wonders that we take for granted such as the incandescent light, the telephone, and the garlic peeler. On the other you have the moonbat crazies who show up at the patent office with a cardboard box stuffed with wires and a torch battery claiming that they've made contact with John Kerry's charisma. And then there is that rarest of creatures: Nikola Tesla, a man who was both a certifiable genius and just plain certifiable.

Slow news day so I thought I'd start a thread on Nikola Tesla.
Nikola Tesla has always fascinated me and this site gives a good view of the man and his inventions. It also has some other neat 'futures' we NOT did get.
Like flying cars! Darnit! I want my flying car!
Do you, too?

No. Too many people are too stupid to drive on the ground. I don't want 'em in the air at all...

Clearly Tesla was both genius and nutjob but that is a common trait among inventors.

If it wasn't for photoshopped Tesla discharges, the ZOTs here would be much less spectacular....we owe him so much.

Tesla was a genius, with out his ideas we would not have radio,tv,computers ect... His only downfall was teaming up with Westinghouse. That killed Tesla's ideas of free energy. I have heard that his notebooks have been recovered and are now classified top secert by the US goverment. There has been lots of people trying to recreate his experiments though.

Well, don't ya know in the Flying Car Future, there would be a machine to give out licenses. If you were judged 'Stupid'...
Well, you'd just have to drive one of those autos made for ground travel:

Hey, I'd even take one of those...
Does that make me stupid?
I think all Demcrats are stupid!

I visited Colorado Springs while in the Air Force. We visited cheyenne Mountain and the Air Force Academy. One night we were walking back to Ent AFB from a local nightclub we came across a historical marker. This was the site, (only paths drives and a foundation remained), where Tesla had tested his "earth" theory. He had injected high high voltage into the ground and had screwed some light bulbs into the soil. The light bulbs glowed and his theory of electrical transimisson was demonstrated.
His crowning achievement was the alternating current motor generator.

Tesla was a genius, 'nuff said. The government screwed him over big time back then. Some of his inventions are still in use today, if I'm not mistaken.

Ford came up with one that flew about a quarter inch off the ground...

Kinda looks like a Viper from "Battlestar Galactica," doesn't it?
I want a flying Edsel like Fry had!

Read a review of Depp's performance and they said he made the right choice in Keith Richards for his role in "Pirates" and made the very, very wrong one in Michael Jackson for his Wanka...
I like Johnny's acting, but not his political views! His "Ed Wood" was fantastic! However, I'll stay with Gene Wilder's Wanka...
I prefer Dakota Fanning's version in the 2026 version.

That was a good read.
I am always amazed by those who dream of ways to use science theory in practical ways (applied science).

Let him try that stunt with me!

That Michael Jackson crap is just so much MSM "We Must Relate It To Current Events" B.S. Depp's hilarious. And it's one great flick.

You certainly won't regret it. Amazing visuals, fun performances and a lesson about the importance of family (although you might not read that last much in the MSM reviews).
