Well, as a replacement for the DUmmie Alert!s, let's see how this works out.
What happened to the alerts ?
You have to think logically to remember that Andy essentially sealed his own fate when he waited 3 months for surgery. Also, I seriously doubt that any doctor at JH would have thought that flying across the country so soon after he did finally have surgery was a good idea. Seems to me that a person so susceptible to infection should not be on an airplane with so many potential viruses.
Logic is not the strong suit of the FOA.
There seem to be some descrepancies as to the cause of his death. Even cancer has been mentioned. Any word on what truly did in our friend?
"what truly did in our friend."
If I thought like a DUmmie, I would have to say Karma.
Well, it appears death was caused by a post-operative infection.
This is one element in this whole story that actually makes sense.
75. I know for a fact their actions were contributory.
189. My questions played no part whatsoever in the restriction of funds. . . .
212. Something was wrong and I found out what it was. What was wrong was 15 different people walking around with little bits of the whole story, and then posting them here in little bits, lending the sense that there were fifteen different versions of the truth. . . . I established what the actual facts were, and made sure that I was part of the information loop. . . .
271. People who asked questions because of legitimate concerns regarding the fundraising process, and because of all the diferent information that was flying around, know who they are and should be at peace about asking. www.scamdy.com These are the people who should be worried. It's pretty straightforward, actually. Legitimate concerns vs. a deep desire to do harm to a sick man.
For the record

I was not threatening anyone physically in my previous posts. . . . It felt appropriate at the time, but obviously could be construed as an actual physical threat of violence. It wasn't.

They deliberately interfered with the PayPal donations process organized by Andys friends, causing a delay in payment to the hospital which blew Andy off the surgical rotation for many critical days. . . . actions taken with the direct intent to harm a dying man. . . .
I thought I had seen it posted by someone at DU that Andy died of a post surgical infection. I could be wrong on this, but that is the assumption from which I was speaking. I do remember that Andy was admitted to Virginia Mason because of a fever. I may have read this at scamdy.com.
Well, because of recent developments, we're changing emphasis. I have no idea where we're going from here, but we're just going to see how this evolves.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'm happy to hear them.
A sad situation. It looks like he did have surgery and had complications.

I think it's clear that he did not have pancreatic cancer but rather a tumor around the bile duct. If so, his prognosis was good, and he unfortunately ran into complications. It doesn't say what exactly, but it sounds like a systemic infection. Very unfortunate.
I would like to reiterate that I had thought all along that Andy had some ailment that required surgery. Now that he is gone, I convey my condolence to all of his family and friends, as I know what they are going through, although in my case it was anticipated, and in their case it was sudden.
That said, the fact that he succumbed to an infection as has been reported changed nothing in my eyes.
What is truly amazing is WillPit and his threats to get anyone who raised the same questions he posted and were never answered. But maybe that is the way Will deals with his grief and conscience.
Maybe the puppy he was given was filthy with germs and caused an infection? It would truly be an unfortunate thing if that were the case, because dogs are supposed to help people's spirits and help people heal faster. I am sure the dog was given to make him feel better, not harm him.
May he find peace where he is at.
He made some very very poor choices as to who became his spokespeople in this last year and they did a good job of ruining his legacy and destroying his reputation. I feel bad for him in that respect.
"Stop blaming the questioners."
Not gonna happen. They don't mention things like flying across country so soon.
But that is only one of the many questions I have.
-delays to raise more money
-delays to get into Hopkins
-singing show tunes after having major invasive surgery
-returning home so soon
-eating spicy foods so soon(remember that thread?)
etc.
It's a shame the guy didn't make it, but their anger and grief sure is mis-directed
From this statement by Pittiful, I fail to see his problem with scamdy.com.
Oh, I know that logic would have to be involved here but I would think that even Pitt could see the contradiction in what he is saying.
Well, there's a lot of pain and anguish in the comments of the DUmmie "William Pitt," and that's understandable, given the death of a friend of his.
What's not understandable is that the DUmmie "William Pitt" feels no need, apparently, to read "reviews" of his writings on web-sites not his own.
If I were the DUmmie "William Pitt," I would spend less time with "my own" and more time with "them," so as to know what's going on in the wider world outside.....and such "reviews," such criticism, just might improve his writing skills.
I thought I read that Andy died of a series of strokes.
Retire to a dark closet and await further developments.
What we need to address, are the reports that Andy died, the hate-filled accusations that we deliberately intended to harm Andy and are to blame for his death, and the actual threats now directed toward us.
When it became apparent several days ago that Andy was not in fact getting better and had taken a dramatic turn for the worse and now was gravely ill, I said that we should "lay off." And I was willing to let the matter rest. But since then, DU, led by Pitt, has gone wild with hatred, with almost a mob mentality. To some extent I can understand and even excuse a confused, irrational, emotional outburst immediately after the death of a friend. That is natural. Yet I also think we could relieve them of some of this burden of hate they are carrying right now.
Frankly, if/when Pitt calms down a bit, I would like to invite him over here to a thread where we could talk this out--no satire, no invective--and he could see that to raise the same sort of questions he himself raised does not make one a "graveyard rat" or "ghoul" who deliberately tried to kill Andy. For all the poking fun I've done with Pitt over the months, I do recognize that he can think and he can analyze and he can write, in a fashion, although I disagree with his political presuppositions. Perhaps, though, he wants to hold on to his hate and is not willing to engage in a sane dialogue with a FReeper.
BTW, I should add that there are many DUers who have been calmer voices of reason in this and who rightly do not blame us for Andy's death.
Since we were so active in discussing the Andy situation for more than two months, I think we now need to bring some closure to that discussion and respond to these concerns.
Whatever surgery Andy had didn't seem to be taken seriously by him. Germs abound in an airplane. I really think there would have been a different outcome if Andy would have had his surgery in Seattle three months ago.
Pitt can't seem to come to grips with the fact that he has the same questions we all have......and I don't believe that his own questions were ever answered to his satisfaction.
