"This nation has placed its destiny in the hands, heads and hearts of its millions of free men and women, and its faith in freedom under the guidance of God. Freedom means the supremacy of human rights everywhere. Our support goes to those who struggle to gain those rights and keep them. Our strength is our unity of purpose."
Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Jan 6th, 1941 State of the Union address.
TOPICS: Government; Politics

How the spirit of FDR must weep to see the party he loved so dear actively betray these principals daily in a vain, infantile attempt to grasp a petty, transitory, partisan political advantage

He's also probably weeping at the collapse of his divine experiment with Socialism - Social Security.

Done long time ago. Was suppose to be a widows and orphans fund until the Sleazy Left politicians in th 1950s and 60s discovered they could raid the fund as a back door to US Taxpayers wallet. They had to find some way to fund all those vote buying programs like farm subsides to millionaires etc that they wanted to fund but knew we did not

Jan 6th, 1941 State of the Union address. In January of 1941, a year before Pearl Harbor, the majority view in America was that we should stay out of the war. In other words, FDR was blowin' smoke.

"Our support goes to those who struggle to gain those rights and keep them." If that jackass believed one freaking word of that he wouldn't have gave more than half of Europe to the commies.
I hope FDR is burning in HELL with his buddy Stalin.

Yes, he did do a lot of that. But the point is that even the Great Idol of the modern Hysteric Left would spit on what they are doing. Funny how times have changed. In the 1930s the Left wanted to fight and the Right was the isolationist and the appeasers. Now in 2005, 4 years after the fight was started by the barbarians, the LEFT wants to end the by having us surrender and then adopt this weird mix of appeasement and isolationism to keep us "safe" When are these A@@ clowns going to wake up to the fact that it is NOT our religious views, it is not our foreign polices current and past. It is ALL the things the LEFT CLAIMS to be for that the Islamic fascists hate. Freedom of and even from Religion. Sexual Equality, Free speech, free markets, Diversity of thought, an overtly sexually Libertine lifestyle. If the Left ever bothered to read anything but the latest Moveon.org or DNC fax, they might actually "raise their consciousness" enough to realize what the Muslims hate about the West most ARE THE POLITICAL LEFT. You see Jews and Christians are "Peoples of the Book" The very worst enemy of all for Muslims are infidels. And the political left with their libertine, anti-religous life view are INFIDELS in bright 10 foot high letters for any good little Myrta wanna be. "Why do they hate us"? They hate you cause you don't live under Muslim law and the ones FARTHEST from Sharia is the MODERN POLITICAL LEFT! It is too bad that supposed intellectuals like Freidmen do their research by attending fashionable parties in Europe and the Mid East instead of actually READING and LISTENING to what people like Laden say! By the WAY Leftists, it doesn't matter how many peace vigils or group hugs or how often you spew forth the terrorists propaganda at us for them, they are still going to kill every Western Leftist they can get their hands on. Why. Because you are not them. So the Left has thee choices. Convert, fight or die. And no amount of terrorist spew coming out out Sen Dick Durbin or John Kerry or any of the other appeasement monkeys here and in Europe is going to save us. And I know it blows the child like minds of the room temperature intellects that populate the Political Left but there are your only 3 choices. Convert, Fight or die. So what's it going to be? BTW Left wing clowns, YES, we, the Brits and The Ruskies (Remember they are killing the Islamo fasists in Chenya as well) will save your butts again this time. Same as we did in 1918, and 1945 and again in the 1980s. See cause that is the basic difference between the right and the left. The right will fight, and die, for their society and their culture. The Left wants to join the other side. /p>

Don't give Truman and LBJ a pass. They took bad and made it worse. Come to that so did Nixon. Funny thing how twisted modern views have become . Nixon would be a lefty and JFK on the right!
Nixon talk with the commies, run away from Vietnam grow the Govt hugely.
Kennedy. Massive tax cuts.
FDR, we must fight.
1930s Right: Run away or surrender, we will not fight
The people who should most want to fight these new set of fascists, the supposedly tolerant "progressive" left are the new appeasers and isolationists! The taught occurs to me that the modern Left are the new Kapos. Kapos were the Jewish police officers who cooperated with the Nazis in running the death camps. I read a story by a Kapo once. He ran into his wife coming off one of the cattle cars. A Nazi guard saw it and realized that she was someone important to him. The Guard made the Kapo escort his own wife to the door of the gas chamber! Throw your hands up in horror and scream impossible? That can't happen now. Nonsense. You see the same thing going on right now with the pretend "Intellectuals" like Biden and Galloway, and Durbin et al. The Modern Left here and in Europe is screaming. "No no Mr Terrorist. I am good Westerner. I am on your side. Go ahead and kill as many of the peasant scum as you wish but don't hurt me, I am on your side" It not we peasants who are the scum.

I agree, but didn't Nixon balance the budget? I thought I'd never say anything good about a Demonrat but I have to give credit to Truman for ending the war with the Japanese, but I was too young to remember him as President and I've never read up much on him. LBJ doesn't pass my lips with my asking forgiveness for swearing. Kennedy I remember as being assassinated. I was in my good time rock and roll years at that time. Getting back to Nixon, I liked the guy. A little strange perhaps but I think a basically decent person who surrounded himself with a bunch of thugs and he foolishly supported them. I think he might have kept his job if he would have fought to do so, but in the best interst of the country he stepped down. For that, he has my respect.
