I certainly meant no disrespect. There are too many medications on the market and they have become too convenient for both doctors and consumers. We're ignoring a lot of problems that can probably be treated at least to a certain degree without medication. For some of these disorders medicine doesn't treat the problem. It only hides the symptoms.

Though I am not on any antidepressants or drugs to treat these kinds of disorders, I have a different condition for which I will need to take prescription medication for the rest of my life. I hate it. I wish there were other alternatives, but there aren't. If there were, I would try to get off the stuff.

There are helpful medications and there are medications of convenience. It's very difficult to draw the line between them now that we have more behaviors being reclassified as disorders. Giving these medications to people because they are upset about the result of an election is irresponsible, and in fact fosters their behavior.

I completely agree and I hope I didn't "vent" on you. It's just that after Columbine a lot of people jumped on the anti-drug bandwagon. It was a knee jerk reaction and I'm still a little gun shy. Thank you for your kindness, FRiend!
