Jesus, I cannot belive the amount of opinionated rubbish you guys have bothered to write here! If you don't like his music, don't listen to it. It's not too hard to avoid unlike all that mainstream crap I put up with. Yes he is 'wierd' but he also makes apologies for his voice in a couple of his albums; I don't mind it. Yes he does make political statements and yes they do seem liberal but while this particular song is blunt and sketchy, Luna, you failed to spot a couple of things: I doubt Conor is as scared of talking to God as you suggest he should be. He's not trying to say he could run the country 'better' either, I think he's trying to identify a bit of the religious governing going on; you don't care you're probably proud to be american and love your flag(ah, flags, they solve so much), but in a diverse country, all you do is alienate people. About conscription, I think you got the wrong end of the stick, no it's not mandatory but it's an attractive offer to people that have no skills and will never get a better paid job. I'm sure you think its the lower classes' own fault for being unskilled in the first place as well! I don't expect to change anybody's mind here, I just want there to be two sides to the argument. I think Conor can be quite objectionable when he's drunk and I don't think ANYBODY can claim to see the whole picture in matters of this size but I still respect him more than I respect people like us who've nothing better to do than post replies that miss the point.
Visiting from DU, perhaps?
Only a DUmmie would have respect for this guy.
I smell a zot.
Are you saying this guy's music is as good as Neil Young doing "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere"?
Oh, no! Freepers are expressing their opinions! What nerve! Somebody better do something about that!
It's no bother. :D

Does everybody speak in cliches in your country?
