Equal Opportunity Lynchings

The ghost of Bill "I feel your pain" Clinton - biting his lip in empathy, tears welling in his eyes - rides again.

It is always interesting when political correctness and self-flagellating sentimentality meet cold, hard numbers.

Research by the Tuskegee Institute documented 4,743 lynchings in 46 states between 1882 and 1968. Three-quarters of the victims were black. In Texas, 493 lynchings took place, of which 352 involved blacks.

So, even in a southern state such as Texas, nearly 30% of lynching victims were not black. They were primarily Jews and Catholics. In the spirit of affirmative action, then, let's take a look at how this shameful aspect of our history is portrayed.
